Kenmore 18inch Portable Dishwasher

Hello,

My dishwasher is not cleaning my dishes throughly. It turns on and runs a complete cycle. However, I noticed when it comes time to drain the water into our sink, only a little bit of water comes out. It does not "gush out" like it used to. I think there is not enough water filling our dishwasher. When I open the dishwasher mid-cycle, there is just a puddle of water on the bottom of the dishwasher.

Help!
Thank you.

seems like the water flow is fine from the sink. There are no kinks or clogs as much as I can see. Water is getting into the dishwasher, but it is not spraying all over the dishes -- the dishes aren't "dripping wet" mid-cycle..... I think there is just about a gallon of water at the bottom of the dishwasher that fills up and drains into the sink...

    Happy New Year.

    The Model #:587.17245990

    Serial #:TH10158144

Settings set to: "Normal Wash" & "Water Heat"

I ran it a few times and changed the setting to "Pots and Pans" to see if it would work differently and it still did not wash the dishes thoroughly.

Also -- our water is very "hard" - we have to change the filter in our shower once every 2-3 months because it gets clogged with sentiment and the water pressure slows down. Do you think this is happening with my dishwasher?

Unfortunately I bought this second hand and it does not have an owner's manual. I have only owned it for less than 1 year and it has been working perfectly the entire time until now.

    Thank you for your help.

Thank you so much for your help with our dishwasher. We discovered the problem - a clogged inlet water valve. We are currently replacing it and hoping the dishwasher will run good-as-new.

    Happy New Year!

Dishes not coming out clean

Hello

There are some things you can try, however, if your Maytag dishwasher is not getting your dishes as clean as you would like. Maytag recommends several processes for fixing this issue with your dishwasher.

Do not run your Maytag dishwasher while hot water is being used in other parts of your home, such as washing clothes or showering. Hot water is needed for your Maytag dishwasher to properly clean dishes.

Run water in the sink in your kitchen until it gets very hot. Then, turn on your Maytag dishwasher. This will ensure that the water cleaning your dishes is the hottest possible temperature.

Clean your Maytag dishwasher to improve the cleaning results for dishes. Run your dishwasher on a short wash cycle and wait for it to fill up with water. Stop the cycle and add about 1/3 of a cup of rust remover to the dishwasher and finish the cycle. Run your Maytag dishwasher through one normal cycle with regular detergent to finish the cleaning process.

Check your detergent. Old detergent or those that have been exposed to moisture can be clumpy. This detergent will not clean your dishes as well when loaded into your Maytag dishwasher. Purchase fresh detergent.

Use extra detergent when washing dishes that have a lot of built-up grease or food particles. The extra amount of detergent is needed to get your dishes clean. Choose a long cleaning cycle to clean these dishes.

Fill your Maytag dishwasher properly. Dishes should not be stacked on top of each other or excessively crammed into your dishwasher. This will keep the dishwasher from adequately cleaning all areas of your dishes and from rinsing them thoroughly.

Whirlpool Gold dishwasher not cleaning dishes. It runs through the cycles and rinses, but dishes are not completely clean.

I had a similar problem with my last two dishwashers, with food still left on the dishes at the end of the cycle. What a nightmare. The most recent dishwasher is new, now the problem is solved. Here's what the manufacturer told me. Pour white vinegar (approximately 2 cups) into the dishwasher and run through the cycle. Buy some Cascade Complete and only use this type of soap for the dishwasher. Make sure you run a cup or two of the white vinegar through the dishwasher cycle once a week. My dishes are now clean and clear!!

Kenmore Dishwasher takes excesive amount of time to run, and dishes are not that clean and dosent seem to dry very well

Hi

If you are noticing that the dishes are not clean, then there are a few things to check for. Check the soap powder if it's kept in a dry environment. Also try replacing the powder with something like a gel or liquid. Next thing to check for is the water pressure and fill valve. Check if the water is filling in and the spray arms are throwing the water with enough pressure. Try and listen to the sound if you hear a proper spraying action sound.

If it seems as a low water pressure then check the fill valve. Now, check if dishwasher is draining the water or not. While the dishwasher is working check whether the dishwasher is draining and there is not much left out water after the cycle is complete. Try cleaning the spray arm with a soft brush. The water temperature plays a major role in cleaning of dishes. The temp should be between 125 and 150 F for dishwasher to clean the dishes. Hope this helps...

Kenmore 17379 dishes are not clean after running a cycle

Hi

Now, check if dishwasher is draining the water or not. While the dishwasher is working check whether the dishwasher is draining and there is not much left out water after the cycle is complete.
Dishwasher not draining issue usually occurs due to kinked drain pipe, clogged drain filter or drain pump. Check the drain hose for any visible clogging, remove if present. If no visible lint is present then remove then turn off the dishwasher and remove the drain hose and check for any visible clogging. If still not visible then the drain filter or drain pump is clogged and you'll need to clean the drain filter and drain pump.

My dishwasher is not cleaning dishes - it is running through its cycles, but when it is done, there is a heavy residue of soap and hard water and the dishes looks worse than when i put them in.I've changed...

Hello there:
There are 6 areas that could cause this to happen Please follow these simple steps ok
Investigate each of these six areas if your dishwasher is not completely cleaning your dishes:

Water Inlet Valve

A dishwasher's water inlet valve is its most common part to fail. When your dishes are not being fully cleaned, quite often a faulty water inlet valve is to blame. Test your dishwasher's water inlet valve, and if it is no longer functioning as it should, you will have to replace it.

Upper or Lower Spray Arm

Your dishwasher has a lower spray arm. It may also have an upper spray arm at the top of the dishwasher. These spray arms are designed to shoot high pressure, high temperature water at your dishes. It is possible that the holes of the spray arms, where the water comes out, are blocked with debris, affecting wash quality. You should inspect your dishwasher's spray arms regularly. Clean out the spray arms as need be.

Heating Element

Water temperature is a key element in achieving clean dishes. A dishwasher's heating element is not designed to heat the water that enters it. Rather, the heating element is designed to maintain the heat of the water that enters the dishwasher. Its a good idea to run the hot water in your sink for a couple of minutes before you run the dishwasher. Just to make sure the water is nice and hot before it enters the dishwasher. If the water is unable to stay hot, it can adversely affect your dishwasher's cleaning ability.

Filter/Drain Grate

There is a filter in your dishwasher. Its function is to keep large particles of food and foreign objects away from the pump. Many of the newly-manufactured dishwashers have self-cleaning filters, and routine cleaning isn't a concern. However, some other dishw ashers need to have the filter removed and cleaned regularly. If the filter or grate is clogged or blocked with debris, it may interfere with the normal functioning of your dishwasher. Consult your owner's manual for specific directions for removing your dishwasher's filter and cleaning it.

Detergent or Detergent Cup

It could just be that you aren't using enough soap to completely wash your dishes. Your dishwasher may be designed to dispense soap at two different times during the wash cycle. If you don't fill all of the detergent cups, then the diswasher will lose a cleaning cycle. Also, if you use a gel-type detergent, try switching to a powered kind. Powders tend to dissolve better in hot water. And don't buy in bulk. Detergents are most effective in the first two weeks. After that, they decrease in potency.
Alternatively, your dishwasher's detergent cup could be defective in some way. It is possible that it is gunked up full of built up detergent, and a thorough cleaning may be enough to get it working again. If that doesn't do the trick, you probably need to replace the entire detergent cup assembly. If your cup isn't even opening, please see our section My dishwasher detergent cup won't open.

Cycle Selector Switch

Sometimes a dishwasher's cycle selector switch is the reason why dishes are not coming completely clean. Test your selector switch to determine whether or not it has become defective. If it has, replace it.

Kenmore dishwasher does not wash completely

I had the same problem. I switched to a gel dishwashing liquid and added about 1/2 cup of white vinegar to each wash cycle. (Just pour the vinegar in a cup, put it in the dishwasher and let the water fill the cup and disperse the vinegar.) Gradually you can reduce the amount of vinegar that you use. Worked for me, hope it does the same for you.
