Thanks for the reply! I have had the display blink, but never shut down. I keep it on a "cool pad" and clean out the cooling system pretty regular. I have tried re-seating the ram, I'll have to give the CPU a shot. It has not gotten excessively hot on me...yet. I'll tear down and try re-seating the CPU tomorrow. Any chance the video GPU is socket mounted? When the trouble first started the external video would send info with the internal just backlit.

Haven't tried a BIOS flash. Should I load the flash on a CD or can I use a USB thumb?

You will probably have to reflash the BIOS, since this issue indicates that the BIOS is corrupted. You can get the BIOS from the Toshiba support site by clicking the link below. Note that this laptop model ships with many different motherboards so you will need to check yours and download the one that matches your board. Attempting to flash with incorrect BIOS may cause irreparable damge to your laptop.

If it is taking that long to get to the bios screen you may have cpu or ram problems. Toshibas tend to run hot and then the cooling system takes little to plug up and makes things worse. If it has ever turned off suddenly when running or been almost too hot to touch you may have damaged the cpu. Or if you get lucky it may have caused the ram or cpu to become loose in the socket. If you reseat them it can fix it. The ram is easy to get at but the cpu requires disassembling the laptop.

Acer laptop display goes off after some second

Try booting into safe mode. Chances are that you have set the screen resolution and refresh rate to some value that the LCD cannot handle. That is why it works until Windows takes over. Once you are in Safe Mode you can get things under control.

Boot not working

Check the boot configuration in the BIOS. It could be that the battery of the BIOS needs to be replaced (if this is an older PC)

Hp mini bootmgr missing

First goto BIOS and check if the order of boot devices is correct. It should be HDD as first option to boot. Change the same and save and exit BIOS. This should help you boot. If not, you You can create a bootage USB and set your system to boot from the same as an alternate option. Once booted repair your OS.

Ecs 945gct m3 v h motherboard ver 3.1

Your motherboard keyboard controller is not initializing completely. The three LEDs shows the keyboard is powered and initializes, but the motherboard keyboard controller looks to be bad. I assume the keyboards work on other computers. Make sure there are no jumpers on the motherboard for the keyboard. You said the video screen is stuck on CMOS BIOS logo and is trying to continue with a missing keyboard or keyboard error. So since it got to the BIOS screen, pretty much everything else came up.

Did you try to F8 or F9 while restarting to get into BIOS (trying to remember which one will boot you to BIOS). Then see if the CD/DVD was disable for boot up. Turn that back on if you can get into BOS so it will boot up you recovery disk.. If your OS is completely gone, you will have to reinstall...

Compaq Presario pops up a system boot menu everytime at startup.

This comes up mostly when it requires a BIOS save. Try that. If that does not help, sometimes setting the default settings and saving will help.

How do i set my laptop to booth from cd/dvd?

There are 2 things you could do. 1) you can change the boot settings in the bios or 2) you can choose the the boot device on the logo screen or bios screen on startup. to do #1 you need to press either DEL or F2 on the logo/bios screen. inside you can change the boot priority. for #2 once you see the logo/bios screen you can either press F10, F11 or F2 to go to the boot device selection. To know which buttons to press for these once you are on the bios screen the right button will be flashed.

System registry problem says its missing a fill from there and it wont reboot my windows vista ultimate disc but the sony vaio laptop comes with windows premium..

If your laptop isn't booting from your Windows Disc, it is not because of corrupt registry. It is because the BIOS settings.

1. Restart your laptop.
2. The screen where the logo of manufacturer is displayed press and hold F10.
In most BIOS it would lead you to the BIOS setup screen.
3. Find anything which sounds similar to Boot Order. (Different BIOS use different names).
4. Select the Optical Media Drive to be the first one to be checked for bootable media.
5. Save the settings and restart.
