Screen is black except briefly blue upon power on or putting source on "VGA"

I cannot display the on screen menu in any source mode. I have two sources hooked up from my cable box and also a DVD player and nothing appears on screen, with two exceptions. When I cycle the source to "VGA" the screen is briefly blue, as in no signal. Secondly, a blue screen is briefly displayed a few moments after the system is powered on. Then the screen goes black again. Any ideas? TIA, Dave

The permanent solution seems pretty clear, remove the crappy solder completely and replace it on the inverter transformers

Your backlights power inverter board is what causes this prob. It is a Darfon V144-001.

Flashing blue and black on the screen

Hi there , if you can activate menu on screen , then try to change the video input source to something like VGA , and be sure that You've connected some video source with VGA cable prior to this. Sometime when there is no input signal (especially digital like HDMI) it flashes like that. Hope this helps .Cheers.

Blue light on with blank screen dell SE198WFP monitor

It depends on what type of connection you are using. If you are using a VGA (analog) cable then you need to select that mode on your monitor menu. If you are using a DVI (digital) cable then you need to choose that mode on you monitor menu.

Screen is completely black except for about 4 inches on top......

Try a reset of the display device or hit the menu button to get a display on the screen- If you get a full picture that way then you have some setting set wrong. It could also be a PIP- picture in picture mode that you only have one source put into the TV rather than two.

HP vs17 (PK657AA) problem: the image is displayed for 3 seconds

first try entering VGA mode in the startup menu. u can get the startup menu by pressing the F8 key immediately after the POST screen. if the screen stabilizes try changing the resolution to 1024 by 768 which should work in normal mode. if that doesnt work then the monitors internal bulbs may be burnt. an electrician may fix this problem for you.

HP Pavillion dv2500 laptop will not boot up.

Pressing the f8 key doesn't work either? This should boot the laptop to safe mode, if it doesn't then check the memory cards before you do anything else, try to get somebody with the same type of memory card to lend it to you. If that doesn't work, then your HDD is corrupted, and to re-install Windows.

Large dot in the middle of the projected display

there is a burned-in spot on the polerizer light filter for the blue lcd. it makes sure the light is blue coming through, that's why it is black on a blue screen, and yellow when the red and green are the only light showing through. it needs to be replaced. pat # PFiLW0213CEZZ.

My HP Notebook first showed a black screen and then after a hard shutdown and restart it only shows a black screen with colored lines. It seems that it is starting up even though I can't see the screen.

Try this,Start in VGA mode.Once started, update your video drivers

To use a Safe Boot option, follow these steps:
  1. Restart your computer and start pressing the F8 key on your keyboard. On a computer that is configured for booting to multiple operating systems, you can press the F8 key when the Boot Menu appears.
  2. Select an option when the Windows Advanced Options menu appears, and then press ENTER.
  3. When the Boot menu appears again, and the words "Safe Mode" appear in blue at the bottom, select the installation that you want to start, and then press ENTER.
Safe Boot options loadTOCNode(2, 'moreinformation');
  • Safe Mode (SAFEBOOT_OPTION=Minimal): This option uses a minimal set of device drivers and services to start Windows.
  • Safe Mode with Networking (SAFEBOOT_OPTION=Network): This option uses a minimal set of device drivers and services to start Windows together with the drivers that you must have to load networking.
  • Safe Mode with Command Prompt (SAFEBOOT_OPTION=Minimal(AlternateShell)): This option is the same as Safe mode, except that Cmd.exe starts instead of Windows Explorer.
  • Enable VGA Mode: This option starts Windows in 640 x 480 mode by using the current video driver (not Vga.sys). This mode is useful if the display is configured for a setting that the monitor cannot display.
