X3470 printer installation

Windows xp home.

x3470 all in one printer.

downloaded all new files from website.
also tried using the manufacturers disc.

both have resulted in being unable to install the printer drivers.

scanner/copier/ all ok.

UNABLE TO INSTALL PRINTER

removed every software trace 3 times, and started again - no good.

installed on correct printer port, tried turning off anti virus/firewall and setup again, again no go.

what can i do ????

might add, all windows updates etc are all current.

nothing glaring obvious.

this is not a issue, as the print spooler s automatic and already in operation.

Perhaps i explained it badly, but the "error message" states "printer driver not installed.

    ie.

2 messages grey boxed , with red x, and "duuuh sound"

    state : lxcypswx.exe - Bad Image

    and

    lxcycfg.dll

more than once have tried deleting these files via reg edit, and then renstallling after every lexmark removal, no joy.

Have tried to use Control Panel/Add Printer etc. Nope.

Have tried to use Computer/Device Manager/update drivers. nope.

I cannot get the pc to add this as a printer, thugh it lists Symantec Fax and lexmark Fax.

    any other ideas ???

    its not buying !!!!

    OK UPDATE TIME.

I DELETED EVERYTHING RELATED TO LEXMARK from the registry, restarted 2 or 3 times, and actually read the manual.

re downloaded the latest software verion from website, and followed my previous commented actions.

It is now installed and works.

    Thankyou for all responses.

One of the most possible reason is related to Print Spooler service. Please check the "Print Spooler" service if its turned on. if its not you can turn it on. Here is the way to go Services screen

  • go to start menu then run and type "services.msc" then hit enter
  • locate the Print Spooler service in the services list
  • Change turn it on  switch to Automatic mode
Try reinstall

My computer has Windows xp Home Edition Version 2002 Service Pack 3. Initially I was able to do first stage of installation install ovt Scanner but next stage of Arcsoft photoimpression started and then...

For a scanner driver it should not matter whether you have XP Home or XP Pro. Most probably there's a simple problem with the disc.
You can ask the vendor for a replacement disc, or go to manufacturer's website and find downloadable drivers & software there. However, on the website there may not be the full software set available, as usually scanners come with some bundled extra 3rd party software that cannot be made available online by the manufacturer for everyone to download.
The essential thing is to install the drivers properly, the other bells & whistles are not needed, you can use applications either built into the system, or available free online for image scanning and manipulation.

Can't install windows XP on a new 500GB Hard Disk

go to the manufacturers website and see what bios updates there are ? If any relate to recognizing hard drive capacity then it will be worth while installing the update onto the motherboard.

If not then check your motherboard for enabling LBA and if you read the manual it should explain what each option is for.

Also might be worth while slip streaming your xp installation disc with the sata drivers for your motherboard ( the sata drivers you can get from your motherboard manufacturers website, download and extract them and then use nlite to combine the sata drivers with the xp disc and re burn the xp disc ensuring to make it bootable )

Nlite website

Seeing as you are combining drivers it may be worth while getting all the other drivers ie network card, graphics, audio etc and combing that with your bootable xp disc.

FULL VERSION OF XP PRO TO DOWNLOAD ?

At the moment, the only method of getting Windows XP install media is by purchasing the disc or ordering install media directly from Microsoft. The other way is if you're a MSDN subscriber, you can usually download software images from Microsoft and use your own key.

The other way to do this is by finding a friend who has a Windows XP cd of your version [for example, Windows XP Home OEM, OEM meaning that the disc came with a manufacturer such as Dell or HP, or Windows XP Home Retail, meaning that the disc came in a Windows XP Home box someone purchased]. If you can borrow thier disc, you can use your key off of your COA [Certificate of Authenticity] which is a sticker on your computer showing your 25 digit license key. This will install Windows XP legally on your system again.

If you own an OEM computer like Compaq, HP, Dell, etc, you can also try contacting support for that PC manufacturer and seeing if you can order recovery media for your computer model. This will install the operating system, all drivers, and software that originally came with your computer back to default when you bought your PC. You may also have recovery software installed on your computer. Look under your start menu and see if you have a suite of software from your PC manufacturer, including recovery software or system restore software.

Best of luck!

For those of you who have downloaded the appropriate vista driver for your printer. Go to device manager on pc (control panel, hardware and devices etc) Select uninstall printer driver, as you want any old references to xp one deleted. Now, place new disc or dicc with new driver files in and your install new hardware program shopuld self start. IF not you can manually do it by going to add new hardware wizard, and select own information to suit yopur needs. But win vista should automatically find the new drivers.
