Alright so I found this Sony KV-27FS12 laying around, up for grabs, in my neighborhood. I brought it over to my house, hooked it up and encountered a problem. My cable is set to channel 03 so I was trying to switch the TV to that channel to get picture, but no luck.
While I flipped through the channels on the TV it did not show any numbers or any text to tell me what channel I was on. I tried to access the menu and that won't pop up either. I decided to program my cable remote to the TV successfully. While I was changing channels I decided to test wether my remote actually worked on the TV, so I found a channel that had slight picture of a show and sound and meddled with the volume on the remote to prove it worked while there was no picture to tell me where the volume bar was at on the TV.
So I was wondering whether anyone could help me fix this or should I give up and just put it back out on the street? Thanks, all help is much appreciated.
Thanks a lot. That's exactly what happened I guess because when I picked it up it was raining a bit. Although the TV was covered with a plastic coat I think water got through. I have similar kind of problem, it was working fine till yesterday. My friend tried something and it started giving this trouble, the remote doesn't work, the volume automatically increases to max and when I try to decrease it, it doesn't stop there. I tried to operate it with TV controls without remote, it doesn't respond. Not sure if I am missing any setup here, to get it worked. Sounds actually like it has had weather damage, sometimes water can get into a place it shouldnt on a tv, not shorting it out, but instead messing up in your case the numbers or menu screen, so i'd say it is best to take it to tyour nearest recycler, hope this helps.......jason

Continuous
blink once a second, no pausing - No reply from the jungle IC301 (data bus is
busy, shorted to ground, or held high), IK video path is defective. If you want to know more about the blinking codes to Sony Brand TVs, check this link.
Four
blinks - No vertical Deflection (V STOP), Screen goes to a single horizontal
line then the video signal muted. Check IC1509, Q1505 Vertical sweep failure. Check all the solder terminals to vertical output IC. If it do not help, replace that IC.
Sounds like you've got a short in your house electrical lines. Try using a surge protector (AKA power strip) between the power cord and wall outlet. If you've already got a surge protector, try replacing it.
IF the unit is completely dead (no standby light at all) then teh main fuse is most likely open. Try replacing that first. If the stnadby light is on, then when you attempt to turn it on, the light shouild blink. If so, the blinking should be a repeated count with a short pause between sequences. Post that count here as it will indicate what circuit has the problem. We will continue from there.
