We bought a Rival 5.5 quart crock pot tonight. Took it out of the box and noticed that the lid doesn't seat on the stoneware crock section. You can push a piece of paper between the lid and crock. I'm guessing that you shouldn't be able to do this? Should we return this one and get another one, or is that the way this particular one is designed? Any opinions on a decent 4-6 quart crock pot? Thanks.. I am having the same problem with a brand-new 2.5 quart model (5025), but don't see how it can be fixed with paper. The lid just doesn't fit,it's too small! I find the clicking sound very annoying, and the escaping steam lets the liquid in the pot evaporate and/or dribble down the sides and onto the counter. I wonder if Rival would replace the lid with a better seal at no charge.
Most of the reviews for this product state that the lid is a bad fit. It is as though they had leftover lids from another model and just used them in this one. A replacement lid will be the same unless you have one custom made...but for that price you'd just get a new crock pot. You will lose a lot of moisture and some foods will be a little dried out after slow cooking all day and losing steam. You can either cover the cracks as best you can when you set it to cook, or return it and buy a better model. You'll find this problem on Rival's 6 quart crock pot as well. Read the reviews before you make your next purchase.
