Freezer door stays ajar after closing the refrigerator door.

I'm not sure about the model number, but when I close the frig door and the freezer door pops open, it sometimes doesn't close tightly. Twice, I got up in the morning to find the freezer door ajar, motor running, and frosted freezer ceiling and food.

The lower hinge on each door may have a door closing cam. It raises the door up ¼ inch when opening and this assist in closing the door. If it’s wore out and doesn’t work the door may not seal and the gasket can be damaged. Watch the operation of the door to see if it rises up when opened.

Leave the door shut and let the magnetic gasket hold the door in place. Put something between the bottom of the door and the floor to hold it in case it slips.
Remove the bracket holding the pin and hinge assembly taking note of order of removal of parts. Slide new cams on. You probably need two.

When I close my side x side frig the freezer door pops open

This happens because the refrigerators of today are air tight, the fresh food door pushes the air into the cabinet as it closes and the air has no place to go but up the air vent into the freezer and "pops" open the freezer door. First thing is make sure the freezer door is capable of closing properly and is not rubbing or catching anywhere. I sometimes add a washer or 2 to the center hinge under the freezer door so it doesn't rub anything. Put a little Vaseline ( or food grade silicone lubricant ) on the hinge side of the seal. I then raise the front of the refrigerator so that the front of the refrigerator is a little higher than the back of the refrigerator. Never level a fridge with a level. Once you have the door closing properly and front slightly higher than the back...let the fresh food door close from 90 degrees on it's own and the freezer door may "pop" open a little but will close again on it's own...and stay closed once all is set up properly. We see this more often now and have no trouble with the door staying open again after setting up the refrigerator properly.

When I close the frig door, it blows the freezer door open. The same when I close the freezer door, it blows the frig door open.

That is because the unit is sealed. If the doors are staying opened I have posted a how to fix it linked just below.

Freezer Door will not stay closed, opens about a half inch after removing pressure.

You can try and adjust the front legs of the frig raising the front about one or two inches. This will but more pressure on the door seal.
Sometimes if you slam the frig door the freezer door will try and open. Tilting the frig back will help solve this problem.

Freezer is cold but not fridge

there is a little trap door at rear upper corner of frig/freezer. (side by side type) Not sure where it is on others. Opens to cool refrig side closes when right temp is reached, Either link to operator is frozen or broke. Should be fixed (replaced) by repairman, easy, fast not too expensive.

Bottom freezer door opens when top door is open and then closed

the door pops open because freezer and frig. are connected together via duct. air pressure builds when you swing ref door closed. apply a small amount of vasoline to the surface of the hinge side of both gaskets. this will aid in door closure. also the unit may be not level

We left the frig door ajar for 6 hrs, now the frig isn't working but the freezer is... where is the reset button? Thanks!!

Hi, No reset button. Check and make sure the evaporator fan motor inside the freezer is running. While checking that, look and see if there is any frost build up on the rear panelin the freezer. Please let me know if any of these are the case so I can asist you further.
Thanks

Freezer door won't stay shut

This indicates that you do not have good airflow and return airflow between your freezer and refrigerator sections. That is why the pressure from closing one door is causing the other one to pop open.

Check the drain tube on the back of the machine to make sure it is not clogged or blocked with frozen water inside. Also check any return air flow vents inside the unit for clear ice.

Sub-zero 500 series refrigerator door wont stay closed

If Your Refrigerator's Freezer Door Pops Open When You Close the Fresh Food Door... If a 'top-freezer' refrigerator's freezer door pops open when the larger fresh food door's closed, it's actually a good thing. That tells us the seals are in great shape, sealing well.
Some freezer door 'pop' is unavoidable bc the bottom door's so much larger than the top one and the hydraulic effect of compressing all that air kicks in. The two compartments share the same air via a duct between them, and that compressed air rushes up into the freezer compartment and can 'pop' the door.
To improve the situation, apply a few drops of oil (sewing machine oil or 'three in one' - NOT WD-40) to each freezer door hinge pin. (Even better: if you can, pull the doors and coat the hinge pins with petroleum jelly). This will help the freezer door swing back closed by itself. The freezer door usually stays ajar because it's binding a bit, and that's usually caused by it's swinging 'dry', with no lubrication.
It’s also a good idea to ‘kick’ the habit of letting the refrig door close hard.
