My mistake, Icemaker has been turned off for several hours and refrigerator will only cool down to about 55 deg. and freezer down to 45 deg., looking more like main power board, what do you think

More stuff, with the ice maker switch off, the freezer won't get any colder than 26 deg & frig 45 deg, that's with both temp buttons on max (9)

I believe this is fast becoming a never ending story. I removed the back freezer panel, the defrost heater had been mangled by the last person that worked on this frig, no way would it work, bent parts, looking further I find there are no thermistors, none to be found anywhere. Either it was not made with any or someone took them out, I cannot find a place where they would be plugged in either. I did see that some wires have been jury rigged and I will have to find a wiring diagram to go much further. Any suggestions where to find wiring diagrams? I am a novice but determined to fix this before my wife buys a new one (ouch) Don

Model #GSS25LSMFBS. The wires attached to thermostat at top of coils are pink & orange, this is continuous wiring. Large pink wire from heater runs up to white sealed connector reducing to smaller wire that is wired into thermostat, large blue wire reduced same way is connected to a 2 wire plug receptical the other wire in the plug is an orange wire that goes to the thermostat, other end of plug, blue wire goes into harness, orange wire via light bulb socket also goes into harness. I have photos of this mess if there is a way of sending them to you. Don

I feel just a little stupid, I did locate the two thermistors. One inside wall of freezer and the other in the frig wall. I will replace both using wire nuts and silicone to seal. Still don't know about cut and spliced wires in freezer section that seems shoddy at best. Don

It sounds like the ice maker is stuck in the harvest ( dump ) mode , in the area of mold heater activation . This area , heats up the ice mold to unfreeze the cubes , and keeps rotating to dump the cubes . This heater , gets hot enough to actually burn you if you touch the mold .
I would remove the 2 screws holding the ice maker , unplug from the ice maker receptical , and replace the ice maker .

Do you see frost on the inside rear freezer wall ? Is the fan in the freezer working ? I would need more symptoms , before diagnosing as a main control board .

Pull the refrig out and remove the 8 " X 10 " panel covering the main control board . Unplug the refrig . Attached to the board , you will see a blue connector which you need to unplug from the board . The receptical , should have : wire1 , wire2 , space , wire 3 . Using a short piece of insulated wire , strip about 1/4 " from both ends . Insert 1 end into wire2 and the other into wire3 . Plug the refrig back in . Looking inside the freezer , at the bottom rear , look for a red glow ( defrost heater working ) . Takes about 1-2 min .

If no red glow , unplug the refrig , and reinstall the panel . The problem is either the defrost heater is shorted , or the defrost thermostat is bad . Both should be replaced . You will have to remove the inside rear freezer panel to access these parts . The heater is at the bottom of the coils , held on by 2 screws , and the defrost bi metal , is clipped onto the top right of the coils , with a blue and pink wire going to it .

If you see the red glow , then replace the # 4 and # 5 thermistors ( 1 " long white torpedo looking pieces ) . # 4 is clipped to the top left of the coils , with 2 white wires going to it , meaning you will have to remove the inside rear freezer panel anyway . The # 5 thermistor , is located at the bottom of the freezer at the rear , inside a housing , with 2 white wires going to it also .

The # 4 , tells the control board the evaporator temp for defrost purposes ( if bad , it lies ) and the # 5 tells the control board the freezer temp which of course , it will lie also , if bad .

Is pss26 the first part of the model number ? If so , the refrig was designed for thermistors . Are the wires taped togather , white ? I'll try to send a pic of the freezer section , if so , to show you the parts .

The freezer must be 12* F. or colder to make ice so if warm check to see condenser is clean.

GE ICE MAKER, VERY LITTLE ICE,

I had this problem with my GE ice maker not working and it was an unbelievably easy fix. If you have the same ice maker then you will see a green light by the power switch. Below the ice maker is a "paddle" ice sensor. The paddle is attached to the ice maker and there is a coil type tension spring. If your paddle is loose, make sure the end of the spring (the pointy wire end) is inserted into a small hole. You probably can't see the hole but move the wire end until it pops into the small hole. You should now have tension on the paddle. At this point I had heard that the freezer light bulb may be drawing too much current for the ice makers motherboard. I removed the bulb and, UNBELIEVABLY, the ice maker began making ice! Try removing or replacing the LIGHT BULB first!

GE Refrigerator Series

Your Ice maker may have a defrost heater stuck and causing to much heat in the freezer. Feel around the bottom of the ice maker see if its warm Not too close it can burn you if its on all the time. If this is the trouble remove it and when you unplug it see if the temp goes back to normal in the freezer.

Please get back to me and let me know if this helped or you still have a problem. Please rate me accordingly and good luck.

My GSS22SGRE Side by Side freezer & Refrig temp is too warm

Possible the defrost thermostat is bad and need to be replaced. Not allowing the evaporator coil ice buildup to melt , which acts like an insulation and restricts the air flow in the freezer compartment.
