My sims 2 games wont open. When i put the disk in, it spins and makes the noises that its going to start but never opens. ive checked through "my computer" and the computer is reconising the disk its just not opening.

If it does this only with this game then its the disc's fault.

there might be som problem with the disk driver and it might be due to starter also ..u try to remove the top of the driveand try spinning by yourself and it will start automatically and if not u can try this site to check this site

The moters probly dead go to like game trader or game stop and have 'em look at it for u.

the disk is not being spun more than likely. thats why i always get open tray. wat u need to do is this
1) unplug it all and take it apart
2) get to the disk drive
3)unscrew the 4 screws on the SIDES onf the drive. not the 2 in the middle 4)take off the cover GENTLY
5)put the drive back intoplace without the top on it
6)plug it up and turn it on
7) observe the disk want to spin but it wont. there is not enough pressure to get it going, wat u need to do it give it a little "push-start" spin it while applying pressure. it may take a few trys to get the disk going fast. it will need to start going very fast.
8) when it does that, quickly place the top back onto the drive without screwing it back on.
it should contunie to spin. turn it off, unplug it, screw the top back onto the drive, then reassemble the 360. works for me EVERy time

This hard disk is a easy fix, You can buy a new one for the fraction of the cost, All you have to do is slip this off the unit and apply an new or even a used hard drive. Try Media player classic under k-lite codec pack. Then open video files on the dvd. If it doesn't help try another codec player. If nothing helps could it be that dvd player is not capable of multilayer dvd reading.

the reason it makes the "grinding" noise is because the motor that moves the lens to read the disk is dieing, this generally happens when you have played your ps2 for a long time, this only happens to older consoles.

what has most likely happened is that the magnet which holds disks in place has dis-lodged and is now stuck to the roof of the dvd drive. Unfortunately the only way to resolve this would be to open up the xbox 360 and open up the dvd drive to fix.

So if you're not confident at this or in doubt in any way I'd contact Microsoft first if it's still under warranty, if not then it's a case of opening up the drive yourself I'm afraid.

Note. Does the drive attempt to spin up when you put a disk in?

Or does it just make small noises then nothing except "open tray" on screen?
