How to use Rit Color Remover in front loading washing machine?

The directions in the Rit Color Remover box only give instructions for top-loading washing machines - how do I use this stuff in my front-loading washing machine? Are you able to provide any tips/help/insights for me?

I already opened the powder version that I bought, so I'm hoping to find a way to use it? Have you tied using the bleach section of the detergent tray with the powder? If so, is there any tip(s) I should know about before I give it a shot?

Thanks so much for your reply!

What lime scale / detergent remover can be used for regular cleaning of my front loader.

Front-loading washing machines are energy efficient and use less detergent than top-loaders, but they sometimes have a tendency to harbor mold and unpleasant smells. By giving your washing machine a quick clean once a month, you'll keep your front-loader fresh, which means cleaner clothes, too. This eco-friendly method doesn't use bleach, costs only pennies to make, and comes together with ingredients you already have on hand.
What You'll Need:
  • 2 cups vinegar
  • 1/4 cup baking soda
  • 1/4 cup water
  • Scrub sponge
Directions:
  1. Start by mixing together the baking soda and water in a small bowl. This is going to be the "detergent" for cleaning the washing machine. Pour the vinegar into a measuring cup and head over to your washing machine.
  2. Add the baking soda mixture to the detergent container of your machine and pour the vinegar into the drum. Set your washer to normal load at the hottest water setting. Close the door and start the machine, letting it do all the hard work for you. The baking soda and vinegar naturally break up mineral deposits and any mold growth while cleaning and refreshing your washing machine.
  3. Use a clean scrubber to rub around the opening of the washing machine, removing stubborn mold or residue. Wipe clean with fresh water.
  4. Your washing machine is sparkling clean and ready to do a load of laundry! Give your front-loader a cleaning once a month to keep your clothes smelling fresh and your machine working in tip-top condition.

Why can't I use liquid color-safe bleach in Kenmore Elite top loading washer?

IF the instructions advise against using bleach in that machine then it is probably because the bleach will affect certain parts / rubbers of the machine and will lead to costly repairs if used.. Try a bleach free soil remover like nappy-san or vanish pink in conjunction with a liquid detergent rather than a powder detergent

The machine fills with water but the drum wont turn. the machine drains the water until the next cycle, but the drum still wont turn

Tony could you give me a little more info? Is this a machine you just got or one that's been running just fine till now? Is it a top loading machine or a front loading machine? Because if this is a top loading GE for example i'd say, see if the agitator spins freely in both directions if it is and if it does i'd give you some instructions on an easy repair. However if you said it's a whirlpool top loader i could probably give you a link to a youtube vid that'll show you step by step how to fix it. Etc. Etc. Thanks.

I get what look like rust streaks on my white clothing when I wash them in my washer. The stains do not come out even with straight bleach. RIT rust stain remover will get them out, but there's not...

1. Iron or manganese in the water supply. • Avoid using chlorine bleach on rust stains. It will make them darker and more obvious. • When iron is dissolved in the water, use granular detergent plus a non-precipitating water conditioner, such as Calgon or Spring Rain*. Better results may be obtained by dissolving detergent and water conditioner in the wash before adding the clothes. Be certain that all clothes are down into the water before starting washer. • If the iron is suspended in the water (it will settle out), attach a rust filter to the faucet and inlet hoses or to the water line. • If iron or manganese stains are a recurring problem, the customer may need a special filter or chemical feeder installed in the home to remove these minerals from the water supply. To remove: Launder with RoVer* Rust Remover Part No. 057961 using the directions below: • Top loading washers: a. Fill the washer with water (no detergent), selecting a temperature suitable for the fabric (hot or warm). b. Add 1/3 cup RoVer and let it dissolve by agitation. c. Add clothes and allow washer to complete the cycle. d. Follow up with an additional wash with detergent.

Be sure to check the spin basket for rust spots also.

Have had numerous items ruined due to brown stain

My Maytag Front Loader also has periodically caused rust stains on clothes. After investigating it I determined the cause.

The top of the machine is rusting around the opening under the lid where you add the detergent, fabric softener, and bleach. Water apparently splashes up on the bottom of the lid and it rusts. The flakes of rust then flake off and fall into the plastic reservoir and are washed into the machine. The only fix is to replace the top of the machine, or take it off, physically clean off the rust and apply a coating of rust resistant paint to the inside. A quick fix is to remove the plastic cover (4 phillips screws) and clean as much rust off around the edges as you can. Be sure and keep the rust from falling down the hole where the water flows into the machine.

My Washing Machine lid is stained from dye from a wet black pillow that was placed on it. How do I remove the stain?

I suggest pouring a whole bottle of hydrogen peroxide on it and let it sit overnight. You can try the same thing with straight bleach. I have even mixed to the two together and found that it works but DO NOT suggest mixing the two together. There is a reaction that it caused by the two combined. Apart from that you may need to purchase the RIT color remover to see if that works.

A pair of yellow cotton pants absorbed color from a blue item that was in the wash. How do you remove the stain from the pants?

Did you dry them in the dryer? if you did then the stain is set, and it wont come out.

If they where line dried or ? Start by washing them again, with the hottest setting they can take, using detergent. It may just wash out.

If not Rit dye has a colorant remover available, try that.

Good Luck.

How can I get permanent black ink out of a white pair of pants?

Try spraying with hair spray or another spray product that won't stain. You are not using the product. The propellant is a good solvent. Hair spray and Lysol are my favorites as they don't seem to stain. RIT dye color remover may also work. If it is a large area your are probably out of luck.
