My Gateway GT4010 PC keeps rebooting itself before

HI,

My Gateway GT4010 PC keeps rebooting itself before it can reach Windows logo, what should I do now?

I've tried the following:
1. Clean the dust inside my PC.
2. Scan my hard drive from another PC, did not find virus on my hard
drive, able to save data to another PC.
3. Another PC keeps rebooting if I used this hard drive as master hard
drive.
4. Place a good hard drive into my PC, but my PC still keeps rebooting
itself.

Any suggestion will be greatly appreciated.

Michael

Try replacing the hard drive cable. If that doesn't fix the problem, then you may have bad RAM, bad motherboard or a bad power supply. Sounds like a hardware issue and not software. try booting your computer in safe mode since it doesn't load all the device drivers. If it still reboots then you'll have to keep swapping parts and booting up the computer to isolate the problem.

Gateway GT4010 desktop pc powers up but NO VIDEO. I cleaned a massive amount of dust from the system and have checked every connection, cleared the cmos/bios, tried to power up with just the power supply...

Hi,

Dust can be a massive cause of problems on a motherboard as it acts like a blanket causing components to overheat and sometimes conducts small amounts of electricity. Many boards on this condition are basically fried and need replacing. You could try a 24 pin power supply but i doubt that will make any difference as you have done everything to restore it.

OK!!

DELETE your drivers via Control Panel / SYSTEM... install a 'fresh driver set'...

I found MANY drivers for ALCOR:
https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/ds031997
IT is the LAST Link below ~ try it FIRST!

I found "GATEWAY" driver sets for your specific CARD READER, but it's for a VISTA 64 Bit O.S. The address is here.
http://www.gateway.com/gw/en/US/content/drivers-downloads

It reads:
"CardReader Alcor 15 in 1 Media Reader Driver 2.02.01.01 6.0 MB 2010/07/21"

The Link below may not work for you and if not, use the address above. Also know the the SEARCH function at GATEWAY is BROKEN ~ so you may need to 'drill down' to the download link?

> Desktops

> GT Series
> GT4010
> Operating System
> Windows VISTA 64
____________
ALSO DO a GOOGLE SEARCH FOR:

Card Reader Alcor 15 in 1 Media Reader Driver

You should have around 169,000 HITS ~ and maybe you will find a newer/better driver from one of them?

I have a gateway gt4010 with some virus, i reinstalled recovery CD, but it showed "window root" error message w.hal.dll missing... can you to give some tips on this?

Hello,

Most Gateway systems can be restored to factory settings using the following steps:

Turn on the system and repeatedly tap F11 key (before windows starts to load)

In the System Restore Options dialog box, click Full System Restore (with Backup), and then click Next.

Wait for the recovery process to complete.

Thanks

Gateway gt4010, wont power on.

The fan turning off will be the cause of the PC shutting down.
This could be caused by a faulty fan or bad connection to motherboard.
1. try reseating the fans power plug on the motherboard
2. if that doesn't help, try replacing with new fan.
3. if that doesn't work then most likely motherboard problem

Gateway

The problem is inside the CPU... Open the case and check the voltage of the battery, a small button cell, it should read as 3V.

Check also the heatsink of your processor it might need dusting.

Now try turning it on...

Get back to me and tell me more about it.... ;)

Resolution

You could check your DPI setting in the display, being a large monitor your DPI setting shoul be up around the 75 - 85 Hertz.
To access this
Control Panel --> Display --> Settings --> Advanced --> Monitor and then click the drop down box and see what the DPI is set to and keep trying the different options until it is clear.
Hope this helps.
