Kenmore microwave 721 85032010 will turn on but won't heat or spin

Chances are that is just a defective top or bottom door switch or its mount.
See our help file on door switches here.
Also, that model number does not show up as a valid US Kenmore model.
Please check the tag in the cooking cavity or elsewhere n the oven and let us know if you need further help.

Kenmore microwave oven model # 721 63684300 built 5/2003. Does not heat, after 25-30 sec. F9 appears on keypad. Everything else works---timer, clock, lights, horizontal turnstyle.

I checked the owners manual and it does not list the fault codes. Manufactures leave this information out of the manual most of the time so you have to call them for service.

Call 1-800-4-my-home (sears) and tell them the problem. You will also need to provide the m# so have that ready when you call.

Good Luck

What does an error code of F-9 mean on a Kenmore ultra wave microwave model 721?

The F9 error code indicates a failed inverter. If resetting the unit does not help you will need to have the inverter & harness checked.

This can sometimes by caused by a power surge or glitch through the electrical lines.
You can sometimes clear this fault by completely unplugging the microwave for 1 minute.
Plug it back in and see if the fault code returns.
If it does, then you have an internal component failure that will need to be serviced by a technician.
Microwaves must be serviced by technicians due to the inherent dangers involved in repairing these appliances.
Internal capacitors can retain a lethal electrical charge even though the unit is completely unplugged.
A microwave radiation leakage test must be performed on the unit following any internal component repair.

It does not ALWAYS indicate a inverter control board problem however in other brands/models.
LG's service manual (for an example) suggests the f-9 code could be due to line voltage, magnetron, inverter module, "Relay2", or a loose connection between door/magnetron/control pcb.
Other indications might help narrow down these choices before having to pull out your multimeter and crack open the microwave case.
For example, if the microwave works, but heats slowly, then the troubleshooting manual narrows your choices down to magnetron or line voltage problems, and pretty much rules out the other possibilities.

I have a Microwave model 721 63252300. It suddenly stopped heating. The other main components are working, fan, light, and turntable. Thoughts?

Hi! from what you have describe, it seem that your magnetron is not working that is why it is not heating. try to look for a busted fuse.

Humming sound, F9 and dead

Seems like I answered this, but maybe it's a different poster.

The 721 model code means it's an LG/Goldstar-made oven and F9 indicates a problem with the inverter or magnetron.

Due to the lethal voltages involved, I do not recommend that a person without training and experience ever work on these models.

I would suggest you contact Sears for service.

We're happy to help you and we'd appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.
