Is the system running MS Vista? I had this problem with a PC the other day. What I ended up doing was using an XP disk to format the HDD, then before I rebooted I ejected the XP disk and insterted the recovery disk. When the system rebooted, THEN it booted from the recovery disk.

My aspire notebook want to reformat but theres no cd or dvd drive on it

It should be a recovery partition on your hard disk. Try this :

Turn on your laptop. On boot, press <F2> to enter BIOS. To enable disk-to-disk recovery (hard disk recovery), activate the BIOS utility, then select Main from the categories listed at the top of the screen. Find D2D Recovery at the bottom of the screen and use the <F5> and <F6> keys to set this value to Enabled. Save and reboot. While the Acer logo is shown, press <Alt> + <F10> at the same time to enter the recovery process. Refer to the onscreen instructions to perform system recovery.
You could miss this process, if it is so try again.

If there is no recovery partition on the hard drive you need a CD revovery kit for your model. Contact Acer support team and ask for it. If you are lucky you will get one for free or you will pay a very affordable price (10-20$). If not, try to find a friend that has the same version of Windows as yours and you can use it with your activation key (you find it on a label on the bottom of the laptop). Also, you have to purchase an external (USB) optical drive (CDROM/DVDROM)

Cant restore to factory settings

Looks like your Recovery Partition or the Software for the recovery option isn't accessable. Here is a link to the website for that desktop. Can you access the Bios and View the Hard Disk Settings to Verify that the Hard Drive is installed and recognizable.

You may need the Recovery CD's to invoke this option. Did you burn the images when you first got your computer?

Tried rebooting from the disks, but...

I had this problem with my Acer Aspire 5920. What I had to do was use GPLCD which is a linux utilty to format the disk as NTFS. It is available here. http://gparted-livecd.tuxfamily.org/

For me it was easy as I have another computer here. I downloaded the iso file and created a CD which is bootable.

I put it in the drive for the laptop when the computer was on, turned it off and then powered on. The cd loaded GPLCD and I selected the format disk option. NTFS was what I used.

I then put in my ACER recovery CD for the Acer Aspire 5920. All worked ok from this point onwards.

Hope this helps.

cheers

Acer aspire 3610 wont reboot

Hey, ohh these irritating virus and grab on the net, take lot lot of time to fix...

Do you have any windows xp cd/key that are bootable?

If not i think you need one.

You need to do a complete reinstall from scratch.

As you mention as novice, it might bee to mutch work?
Maybee you know someone who can help you to this first step getting windows xp installed again?

After that try install the free AVG antivirus, you can find link here to latest free version.

Also setup windows firewall, to protect you computer.

I had problems with virus as well, but i noadays use firefox browser, instead of internet explorer, firefox is more safe to use. Also microsoft office is uninstalled, and instead i installed openoffice, and thunderbird mail program.

I never have problem with virus anymore.

Sorry i can't help you anymore online than this,

wish you the best michael
