You need to replace the spout o-ring seals. A Moen #117 spout oring kit. If you have a faucet with a sprayer, you will use all three rings. If uit has no spray, you will use only two.
The cap at the top will either unscrew, or pry up with a small flat blade. Will be one or the other, haven't seen one of these in many years so I don't remember.. If its leaking around the spout at the base you will need to replace the O rings. Moen provides many repair kits for free. Go to H Depot and ask the plumbing guy to give you a repair kit for this model, it may be free, with instructions included!
Three years ago, I installed a Moen kitchen faucet with sprayer in one of my rental units. Moen twice sent replacement Hydrolock kits, as I couldn't get them to seal. While waiting for the Moen parts to arrive, I used a short length of heater hose purchased at AutoZone, held on by two small hose clamps. After all three Hydrolocks had failed to seal, I just left the heater hose in place. Three years and no problems. ..and no more Moens, either.
If you still have the receipts from the purchase call Moen directly as they warranty their faucets for life and will send you the replacement parts you need. If you need to purchase replacement parts then you can purchase a Moen single lever repair kit from your local hardware store which should run you around $10. Go the the Moen website and look for your model. They generally have an exploded view of every one of their models that will assist you in dissassembling the tap without any surprises. Reassemble the tap with the new o-rings etc installed and test.
you know my grandfather was a carpenter and for some reason he loved Delta faucets. My dad hates delta because they always leaked. We have gone around to all the rentals and even this house he built and replaced all the delta faucets with nice quality moen faucets.
You will need to get a washer kit for this faucet. These kits are pretty common since these faucets are so junky. Most hardware stores should have the repair kits. like home depot and Lowes.
If no satisfaction from Moen, hardware stores usually have "O" ring replacement kits by faucet type, and it will likely have the one you need in it. Usually only a few dollars.
if it is dripping from the spout then there is a cartridge that needs replaced...1225 for the single handle type and 1224 for the 2 handle type. Moen does not use O-rings in their valves. If it leaking around the base of the spout there is an oring kit that you will need and you will have to pull the spout off to access them. Most Moen faucets use a 117 kit for the spout but there are some different ones.
Even Moen faucets can wear out. The first thing you should do is check your warranty. Below is a link to there warranty information.
If the warranty period is over then your going to need to repair it or replace it. In general, leaks are often caused by a scratched or torn cartridge, o-ring, or grommet. Typically, a cartridge repair kit or replacement o-ring will correct this type of leak so a repair is less costly.
Places like Home Depot, Lowe's or where you originally purchased the faucet should carry a repair
ebuild kit. Most times on the back of the package there will be a diagram of the internal parts and how they assemble to help with installation. If not just take you time as you disassemble the faucet. First make sure the water supply has been shut off under the sink. Make sure you have a clean area to place the old pieces for reference. Having something to stack them on in the order they came out will help. Make sure that you check for any small set screws that may be used to lock things in place. If you do this repair yourself and have any others questions or if you run into problems feel free to ask me for help. Good luck.
You have a bad internal o-ring or the sprayer o-ring is leaking, if you look under the sink turn it off and then turn it back on, if you see it leaking out the center shft where the water pipes go into then the faucet may have a broken pipe or loose pipe. check and tell me where it's leaking at. You can buy kits to repiar them they are inexpensive.
