Hi Guys
Having a problem with my Bosch WFLi2440GB/01 washing machine. The darn thing decided to stop spinning the other day so, being an electrical engineer, thought it was the brushes. took the motor off (remembering to switch off first!) and sure enough they were down to about 10mm, bought some new ones and fitted them, whilst I had the motor out I also cleaned the internal parts of the motor and the commutator, but the drum still wont spin.
If I put it on spin the pump kicks in ok and drains any water in the drum, I've checked the inlet hose as well as the waste hose I've also checked the drainage hose from the drum to the pump (and instantly became 50p richer!)
Is there anything you can think of that I have overlooked?
Your help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers
Malby
Go back inside it and look at the place where the drive connects to the drum is there anything loose or missing that should be attached the drive coupling breaks or comes loose, i dont know about this particular model if its a belt driven or what but look closely at the connection to the drum and see if anything is abviously loose or broken.
knowing motors you know that brushes dont always fix one there could be a problem in the field windings did you check them for a short or the commutator could be bad. do you have access to a growler to check the motor out. and a multimeter to check the field windings the motor might be week due to the windings having a short.

Hi,
Problems with a washing machine not spinning or not draining are often inter related..
If you are having a problem with your top load washer then check out this tip...
Washing Machine does not Pump or Spin
If you are having problems with your front load washing machine then checkout this tip...

Thanks James
The machine is belt driven and is good and tight, its as if the motor is failing but I've completely stripped the motor and cleaned it. I also checked the windings for continuity and all looks good. Any other ideas?

No, I dont have access to a growler I'm afraid. Just checked the field windings with a meter all checks out ok?
Bit of a strange one this eh!

Exactly the same problem and I have checked everything. With a wife and 3 kids It's cheaper to just go and buy a new one even though this is only 4 years old. When I say cheaper, I mean it will end in divorce if I don't sort this out today.

Replaced the brushes, check to make sure the angle against the commutator , spins for a little white then stops ?
