Receive fax on the fax system as well as your PC

I'm currently faced with the issue of receiving fax on my fax system as well as on my PC using Fax software on Windows XP (Fax Console). The goal is to view my received faxes online (currently I've achieved this using WinFax software). Currenlty I can receive and send faxes from my PC. I'm also able to receive fax and print it to the fax (All in One Fax, Printer, Scanner, Copier) system. I missed couple of pages of the fax when I received it through WinFax, so I'd like to get the fax to my system and also have it on my PC at the same time. I tried to use a telephone splitter but it doesn't work since the either my PC beats to the fax or my fax system depending on the setting. My fax machine is HP 6210, I run Windows XP Pro with WinFax software. Thank you in advance for any responses. I Need to recieve fax to my PC via winfax & Then Auto Print them to the printer. My printer is a HO all in one. I have two computers networked & both go to the same fax/copy/printer & winfax is on both PC's. I had it working but office staff re-arranged the office & didn't mark the cables - bummer! I have a duet line for the fax. I need it to go.. Winfax recieve then go to printer Automaticaly after recieve. Thanks for any help

If you change the number of rings on the fax machine to more than on your PC, your PC should receive the fax first and accomplish your goal.

Do I fax face up or down on my brother fax 575

Face up, but I really don't think that it matters in the end. The other side will receive the same paper like the one you sent.
If you have any more issues with the fax machine, just use this great users manual. It really helped me a lot, hope it does the same to you. Good luck! :)

Hp officejet 6500 instructions for receiving a fax? Thanks

You can receive faxes automatically or manually. If you turn off the Auto Answer option, you must receive faxes manually. If you turn on the Auto Answer option (the default setting), the device automatically answers incoming calls and receives faxes after the number of rings that are specified by the Rings to Answer setting. (The default Rings to Answer setting is five rings.)
If you receive a legal-size fax and the device is not currently set to use legal-size paper, the device reduces the fax so that it fits on the paper that is loaded. If you have disabled the Automatic Reduction feature, the device prints the fax on two pages.
NOTE: If you are copying a document when a fax arrives, the fax is stored in the
device memory until the copying finishes. This can reduce the number of fax pages stored in memory.
This section contains the following topics:
• Receive a fax manually
• Set up backup fax reception
• Reprint received faxes from memory
• Poll to receive a fax
• Forward faxes to another number
• Set the paper size for received faxes
• Set automatic reduction for incoming faxes
• Block junk fax numbers
• Receive faxes to your computer (Fax to PC and Fax to Mac)
Receive a fax manually
When you are on the phone, the person you are speaking with can send you a fax while you are still connected. This is referred to as manual faxing. Use the instructions in this section to receive a manual fax.
NOTE: You can pick up the handset to talk or listen for fax tones.
You can receive faxes manually from a phone that is:
• Directly connected to the device (on the 2-EXT port)
• On the same phone line, but not directly connected to the device
NOTE: The automatic document feeder must be empty to receive a fax. If there are documents in the ADF, then the device will not be able to receive incoming faxes.
To receive a fax manually
1. Make sure the device is turned on and you have paper loaded in the input tray.
2. Remove any originals from the document feeder tray.
NOTE: The automatic document feeder must be empty to receive a fax. If there
are documents in the document feeder, then receiving the fax will be
unsuccessful.
3. Do one of the following to answer a fax manually:
• Set the Rings to Answer setting to a high number to allow you to answer the
incoming call before the device answers.
• Turn off the Auto Answer setting so that the device does not automatically
answer incoming calls.
4. If you are currently on the phone with the sender, instruct the sender to press Start on their fax machine.
5. When you hear fax tones from a sending fax machine, do the following:
a. Press START FAX Black or START FAX Color on the device control panel.
b. When prompted, select Fax Receive.
NOTE: Depending on your country/region, the device might receive the fax
automatically when you hear fax tones from the sending fax machine.
6. After the device begins to receive the fax, you can hang up the phone or remain on the line. The phone line is silent during fax transmission.

Whenever some tries to call me while using my DSL,

It sounds as if your PC's fax/modem card is set to automatically receive faxes, so the PC answers the phone whenever it's on. To fix this, you need to set your fax modem to receive manually (or disabled if you don't use it to receive faxes). Open the Printer and Faxes (Windows XP) and double click the fax icon. If this is the first time you've opened it, you'll have to go through the fax configuration wizard, if not, you'll be presented the Fax Console. Click on Tools, Configure Fax. On the second page of the configuration wizard, you'll be presented with the select fax device. This is the page where you select to enable fax sending and receiving. Turn off the Enable Receive check box if you never want to receive faxes. Leave it on, but set to manual if you want to be able to manually receive faxes (every time your phone rings, you'll have a notification in the system tray asking if you want to receive a fax).

Machine tries to fax while on phone

Hi ...

There are situations when fax interrupts the telephone conversation. The possible cause of this issue is Remote RX feature on MP 780. There are 3 possible solutions to these problems which are listed below:

I) Change Remote RX ID on MP780
  1. Confirm the <Fax> button light is lit. If the light is not lit, press the <Fax> button.

  2. Press <Menu> button. [RECEIVE MODE] will appear on the display.

  3. Press < (left arrow) or > (right arrow) to select [RX SETTINGS].

  4. Press <OK>. [ECM RX] will appear.

  5. Press the < (left arrow) or > (right arrow) to select [REMOTE RX].

  6. Press <OK> twice. The current Remote RX ID number will appear.

  7. Press < or > to select the desired Remote RX ID number. The options are from 00 to 99.
  8. Alternatively, you can press the numeric keypad to select the number.
  9. For example, to select [38], press <3> and then press <8>.

  10. Press <OK>.

  11. Press <Stop/Reset> to return to standby mode (date and receive mode will appear).
II) Turn off Remote RX on MP780

  7. Press < or > to select [OFF].

  8. Press <OK>.

  9. Press <Stop/Reset> to return to standby mode (date and receive mode will appear).
III) Choosing a receive mode MP780
If you want to receive only faxes automatically with your machine, or you have a dedicated telephone line for fax use only:
  • Select [FAX ONLY MODE].

When you receive a fax call: The machine will receive the fax automatically.
When you receive a voice call: You will not be able to answer the call.
If you receive mainly voice calls and sometimes faxes, or you want to receive faxes manually:
  • Select [MANUAL MODE].

When you receive a fax call: The telephone will ring. Pick up the handset and if you hear a beep, press <Black> or <Color> on the machine to receive the fax.
When you receive a voice call: The telephone will ring. Pick up the handset to answer the call.
For remote receiving: If you are far from your machine, dial 25 (the remote receiving ID) on your telephone to receive faxes. (Telephone being used, such as a base station for a cordless phone, must be connected through the MP780 for the remote receiving function to work.)
If you want to receive voice messages on your answering machine and receive faxes automatically:
  • Select [ANS.MACHINE MODE].

When you receive a fax call: First the answering machine connected to your MP780 will respond to an incoming call, and then the MP780 will receive faxes automatically.
When you receive a voice call: The answering machine connected to your MP780 will respond to an incoming call.
If you want to receive faxes automatically as well as voice calls:
  • Select [FAX/TEL AUTO SW].

When you receive a fax call: The machine will receive the fax automatically.
When you receive a voice call: The machine will ring. Pick up the handset to answer the call.
If you have subscribed to a Distinctive Ring Pattern Detection (DRPD) Service with your telephone company (US only):
  • Select [DRPD].

When you receive a fax call: The machine will ring according to the ring pattern you have chosen and receive the fax automatically.
When you receive a voice call: The machine will ring according to the ring pattern you have chosen. Pick up the handset to answer the call.

Fax machine will send faxes but will not receive any

The normal problem with a fax that will not receive calls it the phone line.
The Line Voltage, or current may be low, or the signal ( DB loss) may be affecting it.
Let me give you an explaination. When you send, you physically connect to the phone line, make the dial tone and whatever is there, it goes out over the line.
When you receive a fax, it is like a remote control, with a remote you need good batteries to generate enough signal to turn on a product.
With a fax, you require an electrical signal, like a remote control to activate the receive capability. Low power, voltage or current. or static, will not allow it to receive, just like a remote with a bad battery will not turn on a product.
Issues can be. The phone cord between the fax and the jack. A bad jack, something on the outside line.
Using a digital phone line, or having another device on the same phone line drawing down the line, or picking up. A credit card machine, answering machine, even another phone can cause issues. If on a shared phone line, disconnect everthing but the fax and have someone send you a test fax. See if that helps.
But more than 90 percent of fax will send , will not receive issues are phone line related.
