Belkin Nimo wireless router internet drop outs

Hello, we have a Belkin Nimo wireless router connected to an iiNet broadband service. We lose connection intermittently & have to power off then on the router. We are running 3x laptops but not all the time connected to the Belkin router. The laptops are 1x Win XP & 2x Vista.
Even with only one laptop the internet connection drops out.
Tx in advance.

There are a few things that can cause you to lose wireless connection with your wireless router.
1. Weak signal strength, check the signal strength on your wireless card. If it is weak move the wireless router away from walls and if possible locate the wireless router higher up.
2. Have you secured your wireless router from people near your from unauthorized access? Ie. change the default password, setup encryption use WAP2 or WAP, change the default SSID, and turn off SSID broadcast, and for added protection, enable MAC address filtering which allows only the MAC address/es of your wireless card/s to connect to your wireless router.
3. You could be getting interference from electrical sources such as air conditioners, ard welders, washing machines etc. If so the power supply to the wireless routers and computers etc should be connected to a surge protection power board, better still connect your computer equipment to an UPS (Uninterrupted Power Supply) .
4. Check the channels of the wireless routers and access points in your area and and change the broadcast channel on your wireless router to an unused channel or one that has the weakest signal strength. This will minimize the interference with your wireless router from the wireless routers and access points in your area.

My belkin n series keeps losing internet connection hard wired to my computer and three wireless computers in the house. when hard wired to the virgin broadband modem everything works fine

I would suggest taking a look at your modem LEDs. What happens exactly when you lose connection? A look at the LEDs should give you some thought as what might be causing this. You can also try resetting your Belkin to default factory settings by pressing the Reset button at the back for 30 seconds, and then putting back your Belkin settings.

No wireless connection :(

If you have your broadband configuration info written down, you could try resetting your router to the factory default settings and then re-configure it.

For most broadband connections, the default settings will work OK, but you should configure your router with a secure administrator password and wireless key.

The user manual for the router as well as configuration software can be found here:

Belkin F5D7231-4 and ADSL2+

I dont know...
however I would run ipconfig command on your PC. Make sure the default gateway corresponds to your router`s IP (if you indeeed have it conected to it)
And also make sure that your modem is set in Bridging mode and your router in PPPoE a
and the appropiate password input into it.

Broadband connection type using Belkin NIMO

use dynamic for normal use of the network and internet.

If you have servers and/or a domain, you should choose another option that corresponds to your setup.

I have bought a belkin wireless g router. my pc is virgin broadband i need to connect an aspire lap top. where do i plug in to make the router work

Hello,

If you have your pc connected directly to your Virgin Broadband modem through the ETH/LAN port on your pc then disconnect it from that port on your PC.

Then connect the same cable to your Belkin Routers Internet/WAN port. Then take the extra cable that came with the Belkin router and connect it to 1 of the 4 lan ports on the Belkin router. Then connect the other end to your PC in the LAN port.

After that, restart your PC and everything should be fine.

Thanks
