Same as others plastic door handle mounts broke

After 3-4 months I opened door to use the microwave and the bottom handle mount crumbled, contacted Samsung who washed their hands of the issue stating the door was not covered. I guess I'll have to find out the letter of the law regarding implied warranties here in Colorado. Hopefully local law will give them no out. Had the unit been 2-3 years old or had I tripped and caught myself on the handle or something I'd have no issue with paying for a repair but for a 4 month old unit to break just from the door being opened is frankly ridiculous.

This as you know is not an isolated incident with this happening. There are dozens w2ho have had the same experience. Contact your obudsmen in writing about this as it should be covered under Manufacturers warranty. It is a known problem on this item and is not a problem caused by its use or by accident of the purchaseer. It is a faulty item used in m,anufacturere and therefor is covered by a warranty. Put your complaint To the President of SAMSUNG at their Head Office not their support contact. State your experience with the handle, the staff at support and procide the copy of the letter to your Ombudsmen as well as an intention to attempt a class action fro others who have this problem.

Our handle broke off the fridgedaire microwave. Can we get a replacement handle or do we need to get a new door or new oven?

Can you post a picture of the handle? I have found that some handles have broken at the mounting screw and that a second mounting point is next to the original point.

Same problem - The handle broke off when opening. Microwave less than 6 months old. Cheap plastic handle and cheap plastic clips hold it together.

Since it's less than six months old, it will be under warranty.

You can contact the manufacturer for free repair.

Just look up their contact information in your owner's manual.

Mine did this too. I fixed it by pulling the center front piece of plastic off the handle to reveal the screws. Problem was I found thet the failure occured in the plastic mount for the screw. I gorilla glued back in place and it has been good for several years now. Saddly the magnetron just failed.

Microwave shuts off by itself

The microwave has a safety door switches (2-3 micro switches)
The door mechanism should hit these micro switches. If you can open the machine, you can see that these micro switch has a holder that you can adjust and tighten to make sure that the hook of the door should activate them.

Viking microwave VMOS200 timer works but no microwave or turn table

This is usually caused by either a bad door switch, a loose door switch mount, or occasionally a problem on the control panel.

Even though a door switch clicks, it may still be bad inside. Its continuity must be checked.

Door switch or mount trouble can be caused by slamming the door or by opening the door while it's cooking without hitting the Stop pad first.

There are plastic mounts inside the microwave which hold the door switches and onto which the door latches lock when you close the door.

The screws on these mounts may be loose. If they get too loose, the switches will not be activated properly.

Sometimes it's a broken tab on the switch holder, allowing the switch to rotate just out of position. This tab can be hard to see, since it is under the bottom edge of the switch.

One test that sometimes helps is to gently lift up (and/or push down) on the door or handle as you try to start it. If it works or tries to work, then it's a door switch mount or door alignment issue.

If you or someone you know decide to look into it, we have critical information on safety, disassembly and door switches at our site, and our link is at our listing here on FixYa:.

The square piece you mention is the waveguide cover and it will need to be replaced. It provides important protection for the magnetron.

To buy one, you can contact Viking here or call 1-888-845-4641.

MICROWAVE TURNTABLE

Does it turn for just a moment or does it keep turning?

If it's just for a moment, that's normal.

If it stays on, either your top or bottom door switch is sticking or it's door switch mount is loose or broken.

Door handle broke off

Normally you have to separate the door panels (as shown in the attached photo) and then you'll see the previously hidden screws you need to remove.

Or you can watch a YouTube video (not a video I made) here that demonstrates how it's done.

You can get Samsung parts here.
