Icemaker overflows when filling

I recently moved into my home. I have a Kitchenaid KSBP25FKSS00. When the icemaker fills, it overflows. I had to have my brother disconnect the icemaker until we can figure out what is wrong. Any ideas????

Sorry, but I think I wasn't clear in posting my question. The water overflows during the fill phase. I've never been able to get ice as the icemaker continues to overflow with water. Thanks for the quick response, though. Any other suggestions??

Haven't tried the solutions yet as my brother was out of town. He'll be here for Christmans so hopefully we can try some of the solutions you suggested. Thanks!

First, get your manual here:http://www.kitchenaid.com/custserv/service.jsp

The manual describes a wire arm which should gauge the amount of ice your unit produces. That arm is improperly set up or missing. The switch it controls may be defective. Have a look.

There is a float in the unit which controls water height during the fill phase. It is jammed or damaged or the switch is bad.

My maytag mfi2568aeb french door bottom freezer has ice on coils in freezer and ice maker wont make ice

Sounds like the icemaker drain is clogged and the fill process overflowed the unit. the water then froze the drain and all overflowed water from icemaker. Remove icemaker and remove all ice from freezer and icemaker. Clean all drains. Reinstall.

Frigidaire icemaker still overflowing after replacing inlet valve

Make sure the water is not splashing out the fill tube rather than the icemaker. Sometimes ice forms in this tube and causes the water to shoot over the tube and run down. You could also try turning the water faucet valve down a bit. Your water pressure could be too high and it is filling too fast. Last thing if you have very hard water the cubs could be sticking in the mold tray and not releasing. When the icemaker fills again there is still ice in ther causing the icemaker to overflow.

GE profile refrigerator pss266msra has a problem with the freezer. Replaced the thermistor and heater as suggested since I had ice buildup. Now icemaker is leaking water which is freezing into icicles -...

One of two things is happening.
1) the fill tube leading from outside the box into the icemaker may have ice buildup or is too close to the icemaker fill wall. Make sure there is a gap between fill tube and wall and check for ice in the tube.
2) wait for the icemaker to call for water and see how long is calls water for. It is only suppose to be 7.2 seconds. If it calls for water longer it can be overflowing. If overflowing than replace icemaker.

Usually there is ice buildup or something that the water is hitting and splashing everywhere.

Ice cubes stick together as though too much water is coming into tray. Is there a valve or something to control amount of water coming in?

yes their is a water valve , 2 things it could be your valve or you i/m. the i/m tells the water valve to fill for about 6-9 seconds if the icemaker is bad it could be telling it to fill for 10 seconds instead of the normal time and overflow the icemaker ,or the water valve also called solenoid could be bad and at not stopping at the desighned time. i dont have your model # to go much furthur but you can remove the cover in the front of the icemaker and see if you see an icemaker water level adjustment screw, newer ge and frigidaire ref. cannot be adjusted, however wpl, maytag, and older ge ref can be and older frg.try adjusting water level at icemaker first .

Ice maker stopped working

The laser , is supposed to blink . This laser , tells the icemaker to stop making ice , when the bin is full . Pour about 2/3 cup of water into the icemaker . If it doesn't dump the cubes into the bin , the icemaker is bad . Or , if there is ice in the bin , which hasn't dumped , the icemaker is bad . If the icemaker dumps the ice ( from water pour ) , then look above the fill cup , and see if the black fill tube is frozen . If so , then replace the water valve and turn the freezer temp down slightly . It will take several days for this fill line inside freezer to thaw . If icemaker dumps , and black tube NOT frozen , replace the water valve . The valve , is where the wall water line connects to on the refrig .

Sub-Zero 632 Ice Maker Leaking into Ice Bucket

Ice Maker is overflowing and leaking into the ice bucket: There are several things to check for.
Go for the easy stuff first, make sure the icemaker is level, some of the plastic liner fridge's will move and allow the icemaker to tilt over and leak. Other troublemakers..... the fill valve
staying on and over filling the icemaker..... the finish sometimes comes off the icemaker body and all the ice cubes don't come out. This will allow the new water to fill on top of an icemaker
that still has a ice cube or two left inside the body, if you have had trouble with black specs in your ice cubes, this may have been the beginning of your finish problem on the icemaker body.
On the module style ice makers (Whirlpool, Maytag Family, Sub Zero) the printed circuit in the
module head often wears and the contacts become too long and allow the icemaker to over fill = new ice maker or new module head.
waterfilladjustment.jpg
Older style icemakers: This gear is bad for breaking and the icemaker quits turning to eject the ice.
You can remove the front cover to see the gear.
This is a common parts breakdown of the older style icemakers

Water fill volume: The water fill adjustment screw will change the fill volumes by changing the fill time.
One half to one full turn usually ( approx ) is equal to 20cc ( 0.68oz ) to 40 cc.
The correct fill is usually 130 to 150 cc ( 4.5 to 5.0 oz ).
When a water valve is replaced the fill volumes must be re-checked!
