Does the Motherboard Biostar G31-M7 TE work with Pentium 4

Does the Motherboard Biostar G31-M7 TE work with Intel Pentium 4 Proccesor (socket 775) 3.20 GHz, 800 FSB?. I have one proccesor and I'm interested in this M/B, but the dealer said: That M/B don't work with these proccesor; but the Biostar general information said yes. Who has the reason?

Hello there a_guerrero_d.

Here's your GEEK-steer ...

Just so I'm clear, here's what I'm hearing in your question:

  • You already possess an "Intel Pentium 4 proccesor (socket 775)" CPU chip.
  • You are shopping for a motherboard, and have desire to marry that chip with a "Biostar G31-M7 TE" motherboard (MB).
  • That is, until a "dealer" told you "That M/B don't work with these proccesor".
If this is accurate, I believe the one operative word out of all the many above, is "DEALER". My guess is this dealer is "dealing", and either:
  • doesn't want to sell only the MB without whatever chip he currently has installed in it.
  • wants to get you to give up on YOUR chip in order to get one from him,
  • or is honestly mistaken ... because unless he knows something that you, I, and the MB manufacturer are not privy to, he's plainly wrong.
Per the MB's own spec-sheet, the "Biostar G31-M7 TE socket 775 mATX motherboard features an Intel G31 / Intel ICH7 chipset with support for socket 775 ... Pentium 4 Processor"s. I personally would have no hesitation pairing that chip with this MB.

In conclusion, the answer your final question: "Who has the reason". I believe it's clear that it's the "dealer" who has reason ... to not provide you with accurate advice!

Good luck, and thanks in advance for posting back ...
  • to let me (and others) know how things worked out,
  • if you have any further questions,
  • to provide clarification or feedback.

Wow! That response was fast. You must have been just waiting for a reply to your query in order to confirm what I strongly suspect you already knew. Right?

I appreciate you taking the time to let me know that with your geekitude, and my humble geek-steer, YOU have resolved your dilemma.

    Enjoy your new system!
