My washer will not switch from one cycle to the next

I understand that your washer is not advancing and stuck on one cycle. If you provide a Model and serial number, it will be helpful.

Washer will not advance to the next cycle unless you put it there your self. will keep running in a cycle until you move it out of a cycle.

Washer when set turns on and fills and agitates. But will not move to next cycle automatically. I can manually move the dial to rinse / spin and it works properly. But again won't move to final spin...

From the way you discribe it, sounds like you have a bad timer. If you decide to fix it yourself be sure to mark the wires before removing the timer.

Timer stuck on cycle will work if manually moved

The timer has a small motor that advances it through the cycles. It either works or it's DOA. unfortunately you probably have to replace the timer complete.
