I have a toshiba satellite series laptop and the cd/dvd drive is missing in my computer.Have been on the phone with toshiba and has been back to toshiba to fix. What ever they would do over the phone and when I sent it back to them only helped for a while then it disappeared again. I have also did a complete system restore and the same thing happened it disappeared. Is there any permenant solution to fix this? Please help I have only had this laptop 1 yr. in July.

Just check the lift side of your laptop and press the bottom of you CD/DVD Drive and that's it..

Since the WARRANTY still is valid, the easiest route is to exercise the warranty.

Or, use the supplied "System Restore" set of CD-ROMs to reload Windows (this will wipe-out any data from your 'C:' disk-drive).

It might be possible to temporarily remove the disk-drive, connect it as a "slave" disk-drive in another computer, and then to copy all your files onto DVD-writable disk(s), before sending it in for warranty service.

The display screen does not sit any viewing angle.

More than likely both hinges are broken (the screen pivots to the hinges). Nothing to do but to replace both L and R hinges.

Yes you can by using a USB External Portable CD/DVD Drive. This are any basic methods to run or boot from the CD/DVD Drive.

take the error literally - check the cable/connection, make sure it is properly connected - if possible replace the cable

If you successfully selected CD ROM, try saving the changes you made and then ensure that you have a bootable CD in the drive when you power on the system.

The ONE thing that does bother me about this Auction is the word "BEZEL"... is it just the BEZEL without the actual drive? Please MESSAGE the seller and ask!

Final note: Be VERY careful about DVD Drives that are listed as "NEW" (other) ... MOST times that decodes to USED!

Try starting the unit in safe mode and see if the CD/DVD drive is their.
Make sure you don't have another device conflecting with the drive.
If the drive is seen under safe mode, you have a program conflect. Which means, the driver for the CD/DVD drive is being bumpted by another device or loading driver.
Try it and get back to me with a answer.
