This can be a complex problem. Test whether the defrost heater circuit is getting 120 v from the main control board. If it is getting the voltage, the main control board is okay. You could have a broken heating element or a blown fuse in the defrost control assembly. Here's a video for a different error code that shows how to access the freezer evaporator in that type of refrigerator: youtube.com/watch?v=a4MdwuoN3jc Unplug the refrigerator and use the procedure in that video to remove the evaporator cover in the freezer. Check the resistance through the defrost heater and replace it if it's electrical open (measures infinite resistance). If the defrost heater is okay, you may need to replace the defrost control assembly which contains the defrost thermistor and fuse. You might want to call a service person on this.

SOURCE: kenmore side by side ice maker

Hello,
There are as you can imagine many possible causes for you no ice condition. I will give you the most common problem for the year model you have. I hope this helps you.
You will need to remove the ice maker from the freezer compartment to check it. Once it is repaired if the following information does help, and you reinstall the ice maker, it should go through a cycle automatically within an hour of your reinstalling it in the freezer compartment.
Once you have the ice maker out of the freezer compartment you will need to remove the white cover on the end of the ice maker and look at the center of the large white gear. If the part inside the hole in the center of the gear is broken or looks twisted, you will need to replaced the module. The module is the part that has the large white gear and is held in the ice maker by 3 phillips head screws. It only comes as an assembly. You can't get just the little broken piece.

Water and ice dispenser don't work

This is a pretty common problem...

Try unplugging the fridge for 30+ seconds. If the display doesn't light up after you plug it back in then the control board is dead. It's going to need to be replaced.
If you know the model # of your fridge you can search for a replacement part here:

I think if you unplug the ice maker and remove it from the freezer to let the ice melt and dry out the Ice maker may start working again once you put it back in the refrigerator. If not we will need to check the thermostat inside the ice maker. Try that first and let me know the results. We will get it working I just need you to do this step by step until I locate the problem. But until the ice maker is dried out I cannot see if the thermostat will call for water when plugged back in. Let me know, Sea Breeze

Water not going into icemaker. Water dispenser works fine.

Check the water valve at the back of the fridge if present.

Even if you used blowdryer, ensure that linse are not frozen by performing a complete defrost.

Disconnect water lines from icemaker, and blow with compressor if the above did not work.

ER IF means error icing fan, the problem is with a little board that is behind the water dispenser. Change this board and you will be in business.
