I have a 13yr old above-range oven which quit when my wife cooked food in an aluminized foil wrapper (a small fire ensued!). This oven has 3 thermal protection units, on the magnetron, the chassis and on top of the food cavity. This last one had failed open, and since it's in series with the magnetron thermal protection unit and the main relay, nothing would work. MAT electronics sell the units for less than $4, but my problem now is to pick one with the appropriate temperature cut-off. They range from 200 to 300F.

The most common causes for a lack of heating are a bad door switch, a loose connection on the magnetron, a bad magnetron, bad connection on the control circuit board, a bad relay on the board, bad high voltage diode, or bad high voltage transformer. Then button START become nor working some times. I can use only button of 30 secon increment to cook something. OK, the fan is working for most of the time but the levels are stuck, not adjustable. I can't changer the fan levels. Now the lamp buton is dead. Sometime, the fan level control is working by itself level 1, 2, 3.... then it appears -SE- on the display. nothing work now. I unplug.... then plug back, it ask to input the time or date... I can't do any thing. Later some time I can cook by using 30 secon button.... It is anoying. Please how I can fix it? Thank you.

There should also be a "mini-manual" hidden inside the unit behind the control
panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very
helpful when troubleshooting, & testing.
At
our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical
over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.
You
can download Whirlpool owner's manuals and installation instructions (very handy when removing the oven form the wall for parts replacement) here.
