SOURCE: Whirlpool Duet GHW9150P knocks when spinning

I had that problem while the washer was under warranty. Luckily my neighbor is a repair man. He removed the front cover just under the door. There are shocks under the barrel that keep it aligned. One of mine was damaged and the barrel became misaligned. Check that area, that might be your problem. Good Luck!

SOURCE: Whirlpool Duet WFW9200SQ has knocking sound

the problem is a cracked spindle on the back of the drum. It most likely also tore up the grey plastic front shield. The only thing to do is throw the machine out sine the drum cost parts onle is over $400 for drum, and over $400 for the front plastic.l

It appears your clutch assembly has failed in this instance.

For replacement parts - head on over to PartSelect.com or RepairClinic.com and enter in your full model number for a full parts listing.
I recommend both sites because ...

FixYa has no affiliation with either site - I have been using and recommending them for years - trouble free.

PartSelect has a great schematic database for locating the part on your unit and great "testimonials" for each part that often times includes HOW-TO information.
RepairClinic has pictures of each part they sell and also a great how-to and troubleshooting for basic repairs.

If your unit has never been serviced - there should still be an original service manual enclosed in plastic taped to the inside of the shell.
In the service manual are Error codes, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting steps you can follow.

Anything too complicated or beyond your scope should be handled by a professional.

If you think you want to tackle the repair - and have gotten stuck on a step - reply to your question and I will be glad to help you out.

Thanks for using FixYa - a 4 THUMBS rating is appreciated for answering your FREE question

Washer is knocking in front left when is starts spin cycle. The unit used to stop and re-align but not longer does. The knocking gets louder at slow speed and somewhat improves at a faster speed. What...

The unit is self aligned when all the load springs connecting from the tube to the bottom chassis are intact. When one of them some how gets out of its position or broken, it causes the tube imbalance so it knocks during the spinning. There are about 8 springs distributed evenly from front, sides, and the rear. Need to check these out.

Will not spin fast, only goes cw and ccw at medium speed during spin cycle

I took the stainless steel basket out and found the aluminum spider to be rotted. The basket was dragging and that made the motor overload.
I made up a stainless steel plate, took the original shaft and pressed it in.

Re-assembled and now is fine

Very loud knocking during spin cycle

I just had a technician tell me that problem was caused because the main rotor bearing was bad. Apparently, it is a sealed bearing that comes apart due to the excessive spinning. The repair charge is $800.

Whirpool Duet washer knocking sounds

From what it sounds, it could be one of the suspension bars. when it's spinning, it is all in the same direction where as agitation is both directions... that would make noise from starting and stopping directions etc. it could be a few other things... please let me kno if you need more help.

Thumping/knocking/rattles during wash agitation cycle

Mine is doing the same thing. I opened it up to see what was happening and it was the drive belt tension arm bumping around. Soon, the belt started slipping during the spin cycle. Now it won't spin and the belt starts to smolder from the friction of the drive motor. If you haven't checked your belt, that's a good place to start.

Agitator fall off and knocking noise during spin cycle

there should be a rubber washer with the bolt. if it is missing the bolt may back of during agitation. also the threads on the transimision may be stripped. Some Green lock tight found in most hard ware stores should help. the knocking noise is probably due the agitator coming loose.
