SOURCE: Refrigerator is getting no power

Check the relay and the compressor with a volt meter. Make sure that you are getting proper voltage. 110 - 120 volts at both the relay and the compressor. If nothing happens or everytime you try to test and the circuit keeps popping first check for bad wiring make sure nothing has come loose. If all the wiring checks out including the ground then the only thing that will pop a circuitbreaker is a bad compressor meaning it is drawing to many amp and you will either need to have a company replace the compressor for around 600 dollars or get a new unit

REFRIGERATOR DOES NOT STAY COLD

Sounds like a defrost problem. Check to see if there is any frost buildup in the back wall of the freezer. If so, it is not defrosting as it should.
  • possible causes:
  1. bad defrost timer
  2. bad defrost heater (in freezer)
  3. bad thermo switch in freezer
If you don’t know what these are then unplug the machine and let the ice melt in the freezer overnight with the door open. Then try it the next day, if is cooling fine then you need to have a service person replace one of the above items. If it still has a problem then it might be the compressor and you should probably replace the machine.

Is the refrigerator still trying to cool as in is the motor still humming? Since many things go wrong, you are going to have to check to see what is still working so that we can narrow it down. This is the first thing that you need to check. Turn it on the coldest setting and see if the motor/pump is still running. Please let me know what you find

No power. How do I replace main board?

I was house sitting for my friend and her LG refrigerator all of a sudden died. Model: LBC22520SW.
I googled for this problem and found a guy who repaired his frig that had a similar problem and it turned out to be a burnt out fuse: (
http://thisdoesnotcompute.org/2013/04/21/fixing-a-completely-dead-lg-refrigerator/)
since the fuse was soldered onto the motherboard, I had to ask a techie friend to help (well, he's an over qualified techie -- actually a retired aeronautic engineer); but once we replaced the fuse, the refrigerator went back to work.
Cost of repair: $6.25 for the fuse, and $0.23 for the soldering wire (he used a high grade copper wire) vs. possible $300 for an "official" repair.

Kenmore 79558813900 refrigerator has no power - no lights, fan, etc. Outlet is fine.

The cable that powers the top drawer might be severed. The cable runs inside left panel to drawer on left side as well. That happened to our unit. We had the same problem. In which case you need to replace the power cable.

Our LG side-by-side, model # LSC26905, suddenly stopped running when my wife was dispensing ice. The owner's manual and the gent at the customer service phone line were no help at all. This happened...

Switch off completely and leave for 30 seconds. switch back on and cooling should start in under 5 minutes. If not, check inline fuse and output to compressor.

Refrigerator and freezer is out (all is warm)....what could be fixed?

First, check to see if the light comes on or if there is any fan, motor, or other sound coming from the appliance? If so, the refrigerator isn't really completely stopped--go to the specific problem you are having. If not, try adjusting the thermostat to a colder setting. If that doesn't work, read on. Second, check to see if there is power getting to the refrigerator. To do that, plug a lamp or other device into the same outlet the refrigerator is plugged into. If there's no power, check the fuses or circuit breakers. If the fuses or breakers aren't the problem, contact a qualified electrician to restore power to the outlet. If there is power to the appliance but it still seems to be stopped, there may be a problem in one or more of these: Wiring Thermostat Defrost timer Compressor Overload and/or relay Joe Thanks for choosing Fixya!

Refrigerator is not getting cold.

If the refrigerator isn't cool, you need to answer some questions, then see if the compressor is running.

First, answer these questions:
Is the refrigerator completely dead? If so, see “It's stopped completely.” Is the thermostat knob turned to the proper setting? If not, reset it.

Next, see if the compressor motor is running The compressor is a football-sized case with no apparent moving parts. It's on the outside of the refrigerator at the back near the bottom. If it is humming or making a continuous noise and your refrigerator is still not cooling, there may be a more serious problem with one or more of several different components, we recommend contacting a qualified appliance repair technician for further help. If the compressor is not running but you do have power to the refrigerator, there may be a problem with one or more of these:

The compressor The Thermostat The overload, relay, or capacitor The defrost timer The condenser fan motor
