SOURCE: I have a millermatic 251

First, you need to check that you have the correct input voltage going to the machine. The main PC board on the welder disperses the input voltage to many different things,ie. the gas solenoid, the drive motors, contactors, transformer, stabilizer etc.

So if your machine is made to run on 230v and it is plugged into 208v, the first thing to stop working is the gas solenoid because it requires more voltage (34vdc on this model) to actuate.
If it turns out you are running the correct power to the machine, there is something wrong with an internal component on the machine and it needs to be brought to a certified miller service center where it will most likely be one of two things, the gas solenoid (about $30+ labor) or the main PC board ($500-600+labor) hope for the best on that one.
best of luck!

Millermatic 135 wire speed control , runs on high all the time. Everything else works fine. How to troubleshoot the problem?

If the wire speed control on your Millermatic 135 welder is running on high all the time, there could be a few different things causing the problem. Here are a few things you can try to troubleshoot the issue:
  1. Check the wire speed control knob and make sure it is not stuck in the high position. If it is, try gently moving it to the low position and see if the wire speed changes.
  2. Inspect the wire speed control potentiometer (pot) and make sure it is not dirty or damaged. Clean it with a contact cleaner if needed, or replace it if it is damaged.
  3. Check the wiring going to the wire speed control pot and make sure there are no loose or corroded connections.
  4. The problem could be with the circuit board, check for any loose connections or damaged components, and make sure they are not overheating.
  5. Check the voltage and amperage of the welder. Make sure it's set to the correct settings for the type of welding you are trying to do.
It's important to check the manual of the welder for troubleshooting steps and also check the warranty of the welder and see if it's still covered by the manufacturer. If you are not able to find the problem or if you are not familiar with welding equipment, it's best to take your welder to a qualified Miller Electric welder repair service center, they will be able to diagnose and fix the issue.

New welder, only fed wire a couple times now it wont work

the noise you hear is the relay for the wire feed,it means that your tension on the wire needs to be set, tighten it if it is too loose and loosen it if the roller on the feed is moving but the wire is not, also, make sure the wire moves easily in the handle, always keep your cords straight so they dont bind.

Can I run a millermatic 252 mig welder off of a ranger 305 g auxillary power outlet?

not sure what a ranger 305g is but a mig welder of that size would require an output of at least 10kva from a generator maybe more due to the start up current

. Hello! I have a millermatic 251 and a 252,

Flux core wires will run on reverse polarity (gorund +), for solid core wires you need straight polarity (ground clamp at negative ). That will take care of the problem.

What mig welder would you I buy to restore a old car.

I always tell my customers that the best machine for a body shop is a millermatic 212 if you have 220V available if not, go to a Millermatic 211 this is one is a dual voltage unit 110V/220V. if you can afford it buy a spool gun SG100 for all aluminum parts, the machine will cost you 999.00 and the spool gun 215.00. Best investment ever for your shop.

Millermatic 200 will not weld

1 - Check the ground connection to the work, including the actual cable to clamp connection.

2 - Make sure that the wire feed rollers are nice and clean. The wire needs to be clean too.

3 - Check that the polarity changing wire connections are nice and tight, clean, etc.

4 - change and or service the contact tip at the end of the gun.

as always, gently clean out the loose junk inside the case. A clean welder is a happy welder. :-)
