My sharp carousal microwave doesn't do anything. It has four blinking A's that's showing where the set timer is but I can't stop the blinking and wen I push numbers cook or even timer I can't get it to work. So what can I do. A friend of mind just gave it to me it came on by itself then went off.

You can try and unplug it for 5 minutes, push the on button to make sure it's completely discharged. Then plug it in. If it does the same thing, it's toast. Getting it repaired will cost about the same as a new one on sale.

SOURCE: sharps microwave

This is usually caused by either a bad door switch, a loose door switch mount, or occasionally a problem on the control panel.

Door switch or mount trouble can be caused by slamming the door or by opening the door while it's cooking without hitting the Stop pad first.

There are plastic mounts inside the microwave which hold the door switches and onto which the door latches lock when you close the door.

The screws on these mounts may be loose. If they get too loose, the switches will not be activated properly.

Sometimes it's a broken tab on the switch holder, allowing the switch to rotate just out of position. This tab can be hard to see, since it is under the bottom edge of the switch.

If you or someone you know decide to look into it, we have critical information on safety, disassembly and door switches at our site, and our link is at our listing here on FixYa:.

You can probably find exploded views and order parts by entering your model number (R-520JKF) here at the Sears parts site.

The best place to order Sharp parts is Tritronics.

SOURCE: Sharp R-1870 stops at 59 seconds

Wow. I just read something ridiculous!

Well, never mind that, here's your solution:

This is a common problem in one of the damper-related components, most likely the switch, but it may also be the motor or the damper door.

The damper is a door inside that opens or closes depending on cooking mode. If the controller senses that the door is not in the right position, it will shut down the cook cycle.

Sharp models stop after 59 seconds.

See the attached sample photo for a typical damper assembly.

We have the applicable service manuals for these models and have uploaded it to our site here and here to help you. You will need the free Adobe Reader to view or print it.

If a switch is all you need, we offer a universal type for only $5 postpaid which you can order here.

SOURCE: sharp R-1871 microwave/convection oven. Microwave will not work

This may be due to the microwave section not working. Check the high voltage diode if it is ok, replace the Magneton.

Reset the clock. Press "Clock" and the correct time, using the number pads. Press "AM/PM" if applicable, and press "Start" or "Clock" to confirm.

  • 2 Press "Timer On/Off" to reset the timer if nothing on the touch pad will operate. Use the number pads to select a new timed amount, if desired, and press "Timer On/Off" to start. Press again to cancel.
  • 3 Press and hold "Clear/Off" for three seconds if the timer will not function or is blinking when you touch the pads. This will release the "Child Lock" feature. Make a new touch pad selection.
  • 4 Disconnect power to the microwave if following Steps 1 through 3 does not resolve the blinking timer. Wait a few minutes, and then restore power to reset the microwave.

  • However if the problem persist the display board
    main control board is faulty

Sharp Carousel Model R-1440 won't stop running

It may be a sticking door switch (upper or lower, not the middle one) or the mount of one of those switches may be loose, broken or out of alignment.

    See these files:
    http://www.microwavedisplay.com/safety.txt
    http://www.microwavedisplay.com/disassembly.txt
    http://www.microwavedisplay.com/doorsw.txt

At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

Then you can get to the switches.

Or it may be a sticking relay on the control board. We regularly repair these control units for customers nationwide by mail for $39.95 postpaid in about a week or so with a one-year guarantee.

If during this unwanted operation the oven lamp, internal cooling fan, and stirrer are all stuck on, but the turntable is not on moving and the oven is not actually cooking, then I would suspect relay RY1 on the control board is stuck.

That's what I suspect in your case.

    Touch STOP/CLEAR pad.
    Touch TIMER/CLOCK pad.
Enter the correct time of day by touching the numbers above in sequence.
    (for example: for 12:30, touch 1 2 3 0)
    Touch TIMER/CLOCK pad again.

No numbered touch pad for use setting clock

I think on this one you press the CLOCK/TIMER pad, then enter the desired time using the 10 MINUTES, 1 MINUTE, AND 15 SECONDS pads then press CLOCK/TIMER again.

If that doesn;t work, press STOP / CLEAR then try the above again.

Let us know if it does not work.

That's probably a shorted high voltage diode or a bad magnetron.

Sometimes a failed magnetron sounds like someone gurgling into an empty coffee cup.
