How long does it take to charge battery in solar fence charger?

    1. A solar powered electric fence energizer usually contains a battery for energy storage. The solar panel collects the energy from the sun and charges the battery. Lead acid batteries, which are used in solar fence chargers, typically last around 3 years, or around 1,000 days of charging.

Unit does not light up

Check the input voltage terminals for power from your array. if there is no power at the input terminals, remove the wires from the controller and check for voltage again on the input wires. If there is still nothing, trace them back and keep checking each connection all the way to the panels. May be a bad connection or wiring. If you have input to the controller, it is being grounded for some reason or the circuit is open. Look for a fuse or reset on the controller. The controller its self may be bad.

Are solar chargers heavier than regular chargers?

Naturally due to the size of solar chargers they are going to be a little heavier than a regular charger, but keep in mind that solar chargers are able to charge you device so long as the sun is up.

Solar Charge Controller should be giving 5amps but only getting 1.5 amps. Please assist

The charge controller is not designed to absorb power it is normally an on or off situation. (sometimes at high speed).
If it was absorbing 3.5A it would go on fire.
I would suggest checking the solar array by shorting it while out of circuit this will determine the mpp current of the array within about 3% at a given time, reconect the array back on to the charge regulator (assuming the sun has not suddenly been covered by a cloud).
If the current is dramaticaly lower than the short circuit current then the battery bank may be controlling the amperage volume, If this is the case there may be a number of reasons for this which would require further info.
