Samsung UN65J620DAFXZA LED tv - the screen goes very dark shortly after turning on.

I have a dvd player connected to the tv via HDMI to test picture. About 15 seconds after the tv is turned on, the screen gets very dark. I've confirmed the backlights are working by taking the back panel off, turn the tv on (with the lights in the room off). I have sound as well. I've replaced the T-Con board with no change. What should my next move be? Replace the Main board or Power/LED board?

It is possible the harmonic balancer/dampener on the engine has given up the ghost. Worst case would be the transmission torque converter is acting up.

SOURCE: LED POWER ONLY LIFE, SCREEN DISPLAY DARKNESS

theres only one solution to the problem you have to replace the whole power supply board .its easier to replace them than finding and soldiering the defective parts like the capacitor on the board .u can just replace the power supply board if u think the power has a problem. if it doesnt work then u have to replace also the main board or the board connecting the rgb cable.its more expensive to replace the board but its worth it. ur lcd will work better and its easy to put them on the lcd casing .

SOURCE: New Samsung LCD TV won't turn on or off

This is the best solution for your problem as a 40 year experience with wires etc. Go to the source of your cable signal connector . Open it and clean the terminals with emery paper , sand the end of the cable shiny clean from corrosion , get a new barrel connectors with gold terminals if possible lengthen the ends of the cable , insert and tighten good, use thick rg-16 or rg 40 cable with good insulation ends crimped professionally with a crimpier or buy ready made , not from dollar store. Get a gold plated professional splitter if you need one or two , it will cost about 15 or more each . Make the cable runs as short as possible, using the thick good cables. If needed get a signal magnifier. From radio shack or the source etc. Connect them good and tight . Ground the splitters . Problem solved , you will get crystal clear channel 2 to 7 including 3 and 4 . Isolate the TV cable from other cables and power wires. Vitally

I have a 55" LG

Easy solution; this is a very common problem. Connect Cable or satellite box / DVR directly to one of the TV HDMI inputs. Connect an optical audio cable from that box to receiver so sound is surround through your speakers. You cannot connect DVR directly to receiver because the anti pirating chip will shut off the picture and produce a green or no screen at all.
You can, however, connect a BD (Blu-Ray) player via HDMI cable directly to your receiver without that problem. Connect HDMI output from receiver to a second HDMI input on the LG.

No sound or picture from dvd

And you have selected the HDMI2 input in the TV menu? If yes, try the dvd on another TV, if you have one. Also try reversing the HDMI cable.

Flat screen to dvd connection help!

It depends on the TV.

On my Phillips TV this is switchable via the TV setup menu, and you get no sound with HDMI unless you change that setting.

The reason it's switchable is that the HDMI input is usually common with one of the component-video inputs (AV3 on mine). (cost saving move)

Thus if the menu is set to hdmi, then the audio goes thru hdmi. If it's set to 'component' then it goes thru the RCA patch cable.

I have connected my Bush DS-A332B dvd player to my Sharp Aquos 32GD8E 32 inch flat screen TV with a Bush HDMI cable (26602BU) but can only get sound and no picture. The cable is slotted into Ext 5 yet when...

I have same problem sound but no picture, have tried it on 2 different tv's but no luck, have tried 2 different hdmi leads (both Bush 26602bu) but no luck. I even thought it was the port on my tv but it works fine with another dvd player and the same lead. I even returned the dvd player and exchanged it, still the same... It's driving me nuts...

Compatibility with Samsung LCD Display

It sounds like the HDMI port on the back of your Marantz is damaged. if you know for sure that the HDMI port works on another tv still you might just use component connection because the visible difference between component and HDMI is not very recognizable.

HDMI connection

It is possible that the DVD player is not outputing through the HDMI connector, or the TV has a problem with the HDMI input on the input board. This would have to be properly checked.

Start by calling the tech support for the DVD player to know if there is a setting for this, or if the player is defective.

Then check to make sure that there are no settings in the menu for the TV and player that are keeping the HDMI turned off.

If all else fails, call the tech support for your TV set. The next step will be that you must get the set serviced.

Hdmi Issue

Most new HDMI DVD players use High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP)on the HDMI output. If you try to play this on an older TV that is not compliant with these new standards it will not work. This standard came out late in 2004 that is why your older player still works. There is also a service bulletin from JVC about upgrading the software on your TV for HDMI compatiblity issues. If you want a pdf file of the bulletin I can send it to you.
