CHECK AND MAKE SURE YOU CAN HEAR YOUR EVAPORATOR FAN RUNNING (INSIDE MOTOR). IF IT IS NOT RUNNING ... AND YOUR COMPRESSOR IS RUNNING. THE MOTOR OR DEFROST TEMENATION SWICTH COULD BE DEFECTIVE. IF NOTHING IS RUNNING ... TRY TO LOCATE THE DEFROST TIMER(USUALLY LOCATED WHERE YOUR COLD CONTROLS ARE) YOU SHOULD SEE A SMALL HOLE WHERE YOU CAN MANUALLY TURN THE TIMER WITH A SCREW DRIVER.IT CAN ONLY TURN IN ONE DIRECTION. IF THE MOTOR IS RUNNING. CHECK TO SEE IF COMPRESSOR IN THE BACK IS RUNNING ... IF IT ISNT AND IS "HOT" (BE CAREFULL) SEE IF THE CONDENSER MOTOR NEAR THE COMPRESSOR IS RUNNING ... IF NOT ... THE COND. MOTOR IS BAD ... THAT MOTOR RUNS IF POWER IS GOING TO THE COMPRESSOR ALWAYS. IF COMPRESSOR IS HOT AND NOT RUNNING AND COND. FAN IS RUNNING .... UN PLUG FRIG AND WAIT TILL COMPRESSOR IS COOL TO THE TOUCH. THESE COMPRESSORS HAVE AN INTERNAL T-STAT THAT PROTECTS THE COMPRESSOR IF IT SHORT CYCLES.IT SOMETIMES GETS SO HOT IT DOES TAKE HOURS TO COOL OFF. THERE IS ALSO A DEFROST-TERMINATION SWITCH THAT CAN GO BAD. CONSULT A LICSESED FACTORY CERTIFIED COMPANY TO GIVE YOU A FIXED-PRICE DIAGNOSTIC TEST.

SOURCE: GDS20SBSBSS FREEZER DRAWER WON'T OPEN

ice will most likely form again.you have a defrost problem.most likely it is your defrost heater.their are a few things that control your defrost cycle.defrost timer, thermostat and defrost heater.most of your newer ref. will also have a control board on the back of ref. or under ref in a usually grey box.but check your heaters first.you will need to take the back panel off in freezer.you will see heater at the bottom of coils.if you have a set of meters you can check for continuity to heater.also your drain below heater sounds clogged.i usually steam out drain but you can use hot water.water should go down drainwhen unclogged.that will prevent the drawer from sticking.

SOURCE: freezer not defrosting

Your defrost drain line is frozen over.Remove everything from the fridge and turn it off for 24 hours with the doors standing open.
The drain line will thaw and you will return to normal operation.
You could also turn the fridge off, remove the freezer floor panel and back panel. Take a hair dryer and thaw out the drain hole. Takes about 2 hours.
You decide which procedure to use.

you have a defrost problem, could be bad adaptive defrost board,t-stat heater, when you open freezer door listen for fan if fan is blowing check the t-stat,look at it and see if it has a buldge on it,sometime you can see this and tell it's bad, you'll need a meter to read out the heater and other parts to see whats bad, might be a good idea to call a tech to do this, when you find problem you have to melt everything out again

Maytag side by side msd264rheb freezer works frig isn't cold. We found ice on bottom freezer side and did melt it with a hair dryer. Frig vent is letting in, now a little cool air, but not a lot.

If you found ice in the freezer then there is usually a lot more behind the back plate. If you let it defrost completely it should work good for a couple days until the ice builds up again. you more than likely have a deefrost issue. There are usually nthree components in a typical defrost circiut. The heater, defrost thermostat and a defrost timer or control. one or those is bad.

Hello, My name Zoltan, and I have a Maytag

Your defrost element has failed in the freezer, ice has built up in the freezer cooling cores and air cant pass through them to the fridge, you need to defrost the unit totally and replace the elements, they are at the inside rear, behind the plate, also check your internal fan is running in the freezer, could be another fault. Mbf2256keq1 bottom freezer back wall of freezer gets covered in ice and refrig doesn't get cold. We have to shut off for a day to let it defrost but will only last a couple of months until it does it...

Dear friend! Most of the customers are not advised by supplier how to use fridge and maintain.
Please keep thermostat at 5 degree or less little. If you keep temp in minus will make over freezing and also defrost timing will be after long time. It will create over ice formation around the freezer by which the freezer fan will be blocked or disturbed to work. Resulting to less or no temp in fridge compartment. Please ensure, thermostat, defrost timer and heater are working properly. Thanks.

Repeated ice over the coil

The defrost cycle is either failing to start (problem with defrost timer) or is not heating the defrost coil (most often defective defrost thermostat.)

When you defrosted did you remove the panel at the back of the freezer to defrost the drain hole for the defrosted water to drain out?

Water leaking into freezer

It may be the defrost thermostat. This thermostat turns on a heater in the freezer a couple of times a day and melts the ice in the freezer which should go into a tube that leads to a pan underneath the refrigerator, where it sits and evaporates from the heat of the compressor. It could also be the timer which tells the refrigeator to turn off a couple of times a day and tells the defrost thermostat to turn on.

Ice at the bottom of the freezer

bottom of rezzer compartment is supposed to be frozen( depending on timeof cycle) i wouldnt point to a defrost problem unitil the ice build up is hindering refigeration, its quite possible that thte defrost drain has just frozen itself over, and needs to be cleared to allow defrost water to go into the drip pan under unit

Both the Freezer and the Refridgerator quit working...

Do you have ice build up on the back wall in the freezer? If so you have whats called a defrost problem. (can be timmer, adc, heating element or thermostat)... All cold air in you fridge side come from the freezer, therefore if you have ice build up behind back wall in freezer it is blocking air flow....
