SOURCE: ryobi lithium batteries won't take charge

For others with the same problem (flashing red light won't go off)...make sure you FIRMLY PUSH the battery down onto the charger and engage the latches. Simply resting the battery on the charger will not work.

Just a thought, lithium batteries wont charge in Ryobi's old chargers. I upgraded my batteries but not the charger until I found this out.

Just bought a Ruobi drill with 18V Lithium Batteries. Been chatging for over an hour. Still not charged. Just the bottom Green light stays on. Is this normal? How long does it take?

The Ryobi charger will flash green as it charges and then remain steady or slowly flashing green when fully charged. Flashing red means testing and if it remains steady or slowly flashing red it is defective.

Bad contact on battery use multymeter to check if voltage is there if not open the battery pack and see if bad connection exists or try another battery

Makita battery charger wont charge

If both lights on the charger are flashing it is indicating you have a bad battery and the charger will not charge the battery. The charger has circuitry that tests the battery and if it 'thinks' the battery is defective it will not attempt to charge it. The only way to verify whether it's the battery or charger is to try charging your battery on another charger or try charging another battery on your charger. Most of the time it's a bad battery.

Try rotating the plug that goes into the wall. I know it sounds irrelevant but ive had the same issue and it worked for me. The positive and negative may be reversed in the dock.

Hi,
Some of batteries drain very quickly. Depends on how they are used.
Feel free to check Your Local battery Manufacturer for best prices for all different batteries. You name it and they have it or they can custom make a battery for you.

Thanks

When putting the battery in the charger the red and green lights flash indicating a bad battery, cannot charge battery.

Have you tried just waiting a few minutes, it might start to charge anyway. But if not, is there some reason you would assume that you don't have a bad battery? There are lots of bad Li-Ion batteries.

Ryobi p103 battery charged but dosen't work.

You need to have the charger tested, if you know that batteries are good then what else could it be. This LIon charger has a logic circuit in it like a computer.
