It might be a corrupted system file resulting in failure to load the operating system. If so, try rebooting to safe mode and consider recovery options.

It is also possible that a memory module is loose. Such would produce the same symptom. https://www.easeus.com/data-recovery/laptop-turns-on-but-no-display-screen-black.html

Try a forced reboot - hold the power button down for several seconds until the laptop shuts off. If you have a removal battery, take it out, and hold the power button down for 30-60 seconds to release residual static discharge. THEN reinsert the battery, and power up. If the screen still does not display, you have a broken connection between the display and the CPU. Take it to a repair facility.

I have problems in sarting up my EI System laptop ,the power light is on but no display on screen

The power light will only show whether power is reaching the machine. The important light is the hard drive activity light and perhaps the wireless activity light.

If the power light is all you have you should take your laptop to the computer doctor but if the hard drive light shows activity it would be worth connecting it to a separate monitor and if it then produces a display you might be able to figure out what has happened.

Cq60-212ea screen black power switch on power led on .processor fan on .but not laptop on screen black. Not display show. And not wellcome display show

If your laptop appears to boot up and the hard disk LEDflashes, then the problem is probably a back light fault. This can be a faultyinverter or a faulty CCFL lamp. Please click on this link and follow myinstructions to identify the fault and possible fix :- http://www.fixya.com/support/r3598095-faulty_laptop_lcd_screen

Laptop screen is not showing anything after power is on

if the power is on and the screen does not show up , try to hook an external monitor using the VGA cable. If the screen does show up, it means that the problem is in the laptop LCD monitor itself. Otherwise if the external monitor does not show up, that means your laptop does not boot anymore to the operating system. Try to turn off the power and remove the power cable and battery on the laptop. Then press and hold the power button for 8 secs. Then reinsert the battery and power cables on the laptop then turn on the laptop. If there is still no screen displayed then call Lenovo for repair of your laptop.

I have dell laptop.Cursor is showing. caplock on

No display? but you have an mouse cursor showing? So you must have an display and it is locking on startup of the OS. Do you have an bootable cd? If not lets try to start it up in safe mode..
1: power down system
2: on power up hit the F8 key keep taping it till you get display saying startup in safe mode.
3: start up in safe mode no network.
4: if it starts up to an desktop then its an driver or software which you have installed causing normal startup to stop.
If it doesn't start in safe mode we will have to boot to an OS CD.
Let me know how these first steps go..

Battery Display Problem

Hi Mxtacsy,

Power down your laptop. Remove the battery and power for about 2 min. Plug in the power only. Boot up your XP. Right click on My Computer>Properties>Hardware>Device Manager. Click on View>Show hidden devices.
If it lists a battery catagory, click on the + , right click on your battery, and select Uninstall.
If it doesn't show, don't worry. Now plug in your battery, without powering down. That should cause XP to redetect your battery. Reboot and your Battery icon and powersaving settings should all be ok.

Good Luck!
