Memory can i use ddr2 for memory instead of ddr sdram ?

1) Total maximum amount for motherboard is 2GB.

2) There are 2 Ram Memory slots.

3) Maximum amount for EACH ram memory slot is 1GB.

Either DDR Sdram at 266MegaHertz, or 333MHz, or 400MHz.
PC2100, PC2700, and PC3200, respectively.

There is no DDR1 and DDR2 slots, in a manner of speaking.

May be marked on your motherboard that way, but stating it that way on a computer product support website = No.

You're going to make someone think, you don't know what you are talking about.

They may think you are referring to DDR Sdram, and DDR2 Sdram, and they know the motherboard only uses DDR Sdram ram memory.

Suggest state Slot 1 and Slot 2; or DIMM 1 and DIMM 2.

YES, if your motherboard accepts DDR Sdram, and DDR2 Sdram ram memory. If your motherboard has both types of ram memory slots.

BUT, you can ONLY use DDR Sdram, OR, DDR2 Sdram.

You Cannot use both types of ram memory in the motherboard, at the same time.
(BIOS will only recognize one type at a time)

You need to check that on the momery installed on your computer or if you can find the brand and model of your motherboard(mobo) you can find what memory you need by going to the manual of the mobo (you can go to the mobo's website and check the manual, it will list the compatible memory module fo your mobo).

Sorry but you're board does not support DDR2 memory.
Only 2 x 184-pin DIMM sockets support two 2.5V DDR SDRAMs (DDR400/333/266). There are two PC Chips M871G.
One is M871G (V1.5) & the other is M871G (V3.1). Neither support DDR2 memory. DDR2 memory used DIMM slots with 240-pin. The memory slots on you're board uses 184-pin. The board will not function with 240-pin memory.

To answer you there is no difference

DIMM= Dual In Line Memory Modual 64 bit transfer
Dimms replaced Simms when pentium ll came out.

DDR= Double Data Rate
Newer memory modules are DDR2 or DDR3
Older systems are DDR or SDRAM

All the systems use SDRAM DIMMS, DDR DIMMS,DDR2 DIMMS, DDR3 DIMMS.

Not compatable at all.

DDR2 SDRAM uses 240 Pin Dimms.

If your question has to do with buying a video card that is going to use DDR2 ram, that would be a faster graphics card. You can also get video cards with DDR3 ram which again is even faster.
Oddly enough in respect to system memory DDR2 is supposed to be faster than DDR yet the DDR memory cost more than the DDR2. Go figure.

The normal DDR Ram is supported..It doesn't support DDR2..

PC2100 is DDR266 memory. PC2700 is DDR333 memory. PC3200 is DDR400 memory All are backward-compatible with PC2100. Memory is designed to be backwards compatible, so generally you can safely add faster memory to a computer designed to run slower memory, but... your system will operate at the speed of the slowest memory module or system component.
