I have the same problem, F1 that can be very temporarily fixed by pressing stop then restarting. To do a load of wash I have to restart several times. I tried to reset the board by unplugging for 2 minutes. I then ran the diagnostics by pressing a button for 3 seconds and releasing for three second, 3 times. It came by with an 88 error code and then went into its additional 5 minute diagnostic cycle. I then got another F1 code.

Reran the diagnostics and got an F68.

Same F1 problem here, restarting a few times usually clears it.

    Anyone know of a fix???

  • Anonymous Mar 20, 2008

I have the same problem with mine. The multiple restarts are getting old. I feel like I am tied to the washer. What a ball and chain! Has anyone found any solutions yet?

f1 code problem, re-start about three times before it will work ?

  • jimmyd2 Mar 27, 2008

Same problem here. The machine's only a year and a half old. This machine su@KS!! Sears should fix this problem freeof charge if they want my business again.

Our kenmore oasis piece of junk is only 13 months old. The first repairman came about 6 months ago and yesterday we noticed that our closet (adjacent to our laundry room) was flooded. The repairman left the hose which connects to the pump loose. The hose was not seated and the hose clamp was not on the pump outlet. It has been leaking for months and finally came loose flooding the closet. We know its been leaking for months because the walls and baseboard behind the washer and behind the clothes in our closet are now mildewed!!! What did sears have to say...our of warranty!! Thanks Sears!

unit starts to fill then shuts down within seconds f1 code shows then upon entering diagnostics f68 code shows.

Washer stops F1 code appears Hit stop restart it works

  • Anonymous May 05, 2008

At the beginning, each time I begin the machine, I obtain an F1 code. If I stop the machine for a few seconds and restart the F1 code disappears. I just had a repairman here who stated that there is NO schematics inside the machine anywhere and he will need to call tech support to find out if he can get an answer for the function error code. If not he will need to contact my insurance company to have them contact and send out a Sears Rep.

What I've read and heard about this problem is not promising.

    I am FRUSTRATED...

  • Anonymous Jun 16, 2008

FI error code when starting up. After 2-5 stop and starts it will continue to work. I am very unhappy with the amount we paid for this washer and the error codes we currently have. The Sears help desk was not very helpful and I wm not sure where to turn. I will buy a less expensive washer next time with less bells, whistles and computer boards. Sears could give the washers away and just charge for service and make a fortune after the first years warranty.

  • cjohns1 Jun 21, 2008

Our Kenmore Elite Oasis HE is also having this problem,,just after the warranty ran out of course! We have to stand there and lift and close the lid several times to get it to work and get the F1 to stop coming up! This is a royal piece of junk and SEARS out to be ashamed of themselves! I am surprised a class action has not been started with so many people having thsi problem! DO NOT BUY AN APPLIANCE FROM SEARS! THEY WILL NOT TAKE CARE OF THIS OBVIOUS DEFECT IN THEIR WASHER! I will try some of the fixes recommended by the other suckers who bought this machine.

  • Anonymous Jul 14, 2008

Problem solved here too. No new board needed.

Washer worked fine until we moved. I found this and other sites and decided to remove the three screws on the back of the control panel on top and pull it forward. There are several points of connection that you should check and re-seat (unplug and plug back in again). I'm next to positive that my problem was related to one of the wire connectors going to the areas where the water comes into the machine. Anyway, just playing with the wires and putting the top back on seemed to fix the problem for me.

Anything computer related can quickly stop working or become intermittent simply because of a lose connection. Check those connections before you pay a repairman or order a new control board.

  • judithnelms Jul 16, 2008

So far, my steps are limited to total frustration over paying so much for pieces of junk--Kenmore Oasis Washer/Dryer. Both give F1 indicators every time I use them, requiring me to stand by and restart the cycles 2-3 times to complete the loads. Never have I had such problems with applicances. Thanks to others who have offered constructive self-repair advice. I am not going to play the warranty game and will never buy applicances at Sears again.

  • Anonymous Jul 16, 2008

Thanks to the posters who shared their solutions... We too are just out
of warranty and started having this problem... of course our serial #
starts with a CU, so we are not covered by the recall...

    Anywho,
we had service scheduled for this morning, but they were taking too
long and I had to run, so I jumped on here, read the suggested fixes,
tried them, and seem to be working just fine now.

    I agree with
the poster above who believes the problem is with the connections
around the water intakes... I didn't unseat/reseat those first, just
the ones around the control board, and it didn't work... I re-read the
fix and tried those connections, and presto, no more F1 error!!!

Thanks again to those who posted solutions!!!

I have been having the same problem with my Kenmore Elite Oasis top load washer. It gives me a F1 error and stops and I have to keep restarting the machine. After a few times it will finally go. i have only ha my washer just over a year as well. Very unhappy with this washers performance for the money.

  • donnjonn5 Aug 04, 2008

I keep getting the same F1 code several times during the wash cycle.

I have to hit stop and start several times.

    Help.

  • daco3002 Aug 08, 2008

Ditto...it is about 1 and a half years old and this F1 error is coming up.  It seems that all F error codes are undefined per the manual and require service to be called.  Is this built in obsolescence or what?  Well thanks for the tips to try, I'll give it a whirl first.  But I have to agree with the comments, this is way too soon for a malfunction.  I understand that electrical boards are funny that way.  But every washing machine I've ever had did a lot of bouncing and twisting.  So I guess I had best get this procedure down if it works.

  • pamilita Aug 15, 2008

Same problem, F1 just after starting load. Have to stop and restart 2-3 times. Does it again after rinse cyle begins. What the heck does F1 stand for anyway. Manual gives squat info. Looking for recall info. Cannot find it. Need help.

  • Anonymous Sep 04, 2008

Me too! How does one go about filing a class action suit?

Also, for over a month I've had a new control unit on order & they keep pushing the delivery date out a week, week after week! I've been without a washer for almost 2 months now & could have purchased a working NEW washer with what I've spent at the laundromat during this waiting "game". I have always purchased Sears appliances & cannot believe they are not taking responsibility for repairing these units.

  • Anonymous Sep 08, 2008

I have the same F1 problem. Mine happens once a load at the rinse cycle every time.

  • Anonymous Sep 12, 2008

Same here. My Kenmore Elite Oasis HE is twenty months old and I have been getting the F1 Code for a couple of months now. I have to stop and start about four times at the beginning of the wash cycle and then again at the beginning of the rinse cycle I have to stop and start usually two times. There has to be something very wrong with an appliance that everyone is having the same problem with. Also, before the machine is two years old.. Sears should be addressing this problem before they lose a lot of good customers.

  • T Hank Sep 13, 2008

We have been dealing with the F1 code problem for well over 2 months now. Three Sears repairmen have been out, the 1st one did a reset and calibrate then tried upselling us a warranty, he hadn't even got down to the end of the street and the F1 code was back as we tried to catch up on our laundry. Two weeks later we finally get another repairman out and he looks at the machine numbers and states we need a new control board, plus a washplate and tub ring, then mentions there is a recall is process. He ordered the parts and reschedules to come out, parts don't arrive as he requested so appt canceled. Parts finally arrive another week later so I schedule appt to have them installed, only the wrong control board was shipped and the washplate wasn't shipped. At least the repairman (today) replaced the tub ring and ordered the correct control boartd and the washplate, should be here mid-week. Newest control board is: W10201186, if they try to stick you will a different numbered board you will more problems.... heck I don't know that this control board I am waiting for will fix things. This will be appt # 4 next time.

  • Anonymous Sep 30, 2008

I am having the same problem. I have called Sears to see what the F1 code stands for and no one can tell me. They said to schedule an appt for a service tech. What a scam - I will never purchase another item from Sears!!

  • Anonymous Oct 01, 2008

Just to add another one to the list, our issues with FI also started a few months ago. We spent a ton of money thinking that this was the latest and greatest washing machine out there. I've never had so many issues. I will try the Electronic control box and see if that fixes it.

  • bfghp Oct 04, 2008

My Kenmore Oasis he maodel 27092602 has the F1 problem. It will not complete a wash cycle. The repair man came out and showed me how to get the machine to do a self diagnostic test. Push reset then push any button (except start stop or reset) and hold for 4 seconds, release for 4 seconds, repeat 4 -5 times. the entire panel will light up. Then it will show you an F- code. mine is F68. Turn the dial to see more codes. Mine showed F51 too. Then press the green button and it will cycle all the mechanical functions to test them.

Now I have to find out what the codes mean. Anyone know ?

  • bfghp Oct 04, 2008

I called Sears to complain. They authorized $100 reimbursement towards the part and gave me a case number. Went to partsdirect.com (Sears' part store) ordered the controll unit assembly and faxed the receipt to 800-326-0485 with my case number. note: part looks like this:
Get the part number off the sticker. Parts direct will indicate that the manufacurer has replaced it with a ner part number.

  • bhostnic Oct 04, 2008

We had the same F1 code problem. Called the Sears service number listed in an earlier post and told them I saw on the internet that many have had the same problem. Service Rep looked up FixYa while I was on the phone and immediately offered $250 towards parts and labor. The bill came to $340. The repair tech who came out suggested that I get a high quality surge protector to protect the electronics in the washer that had failed. Made sense to me. I researched surge protectors online and ended up with one from Radio Shack.

  • ldyhwke30 Oct 09, 2008

F1 error code, will start after a few stop start presses, only a little over a year, thoroughly disgusted. Researched before i bought and didnt find anything... should've looked harder.. grrrrr

  • Anonymous Oct 22, 2008

I too have this problem, you'd think Sears would realize THEY HAVE A BIGGER PROBLEM!

  • Anonymous Oct 30, 2008

I have the same f1 code, this is a problem, that sears should be paying for not the customer, this washer is a piece of junk, will not buy sears product again

  • pkc6505 Nov 03, 2008

Our machine will run continually and we actually need to stop it and then start it (once emptied) to finish a cycle. The second time we start it the numbers race up and down the cycle time and finally stops. It is then that we can touch the Rinse/Drain & Spin button and it will finish the wash. It has started on its own and there are several codes that light up. We refused the charge to have a new part installed ($400 +) after paying the service fee. We did not purchase an extanded warranty either when originally bought in 2006. In less than 18 months we began experiencing the exact problems that many of you have experienced. Any information about the product being recalled? Any options? We would welcome a solution as well. Because we have to start/stop the load, I'm sure that it is not functioning as it should. Any bleach we put in the special compartment remains there. Any suggestions would be welcomed!

  • Anonymous Nov 03, 2008

F1 code seems to be a constant problem. I am like everyone else, 18 months after my $1000 purchase my washer is getting this code. I called an independent repairman, luckily he did not charge me for a service call, to tell me that I needed a new computer. Whirlpool definitely needs to do a recall.

  • Anonymous Nov 05, 2008

I am having this same problem. When starting my wash I get the F1 code. I press stop and then start again. I have to do this 3 to 4 times to wash and 3 to 4 times to rinse. My washer is 1 1/2 years old. I went to Sears to buy a Kenmore Washer because I thought I was getting a good product. I think Sears should take care of all these F1 problems at no charge to the customer. What are they doing?

  • Anonymous Nov 11, 2008

I have the same problem with the F1 code. My machine is 15 months old. I called today to arrange for service. My husband suggested to research the problem online. I was surprised to see so many people with the same problem. How can they continue to sell this product?

  • pkc6505 Nov 24, 2008

Our problem...problems seem to be solved. We recently had an independent repair man replace the "brain" part--I think it was right at $100 to buy. It has been installed and to date we have not had one beep and/or numbers that race up and down the cycle system issue. It seems to be resolved. We are so thankful that this was an inexpensive way to fix what was earlier quoted as a $400-500 problem!

  • mjvh Nov 28, 2008

Sears repairmen told me the washing machine must have been hit by lightening and quoted $511. I refused, paid the $60 service call and now hit the stop and start button over and over numerous times to get it to work. How happy I am we bought this wonderful machine!

  • sevengables1 Dec 01, 2008

I, too, am a member of the Kenmore Elite F1 club. When I called service, I was told they'd send a technician to diagnose the problem. ??? They don't know what an F1 is? I asked if he was joking. He said "no, ma'am. " I mentioned the hundreds of emails describing the same annoying stop/start cycles and the impending class action suit. Was told a repairman was required, it would cost $75 for him/her to show up to diagnosis the problem and he/she would be here somewhere between 8am & 5pm. I asked if he was taking notes. "Yes ma'am". Then "please add this to your notes" - "If this is Sear's customer service policy, I'm NEVER buying another Sears product".

I refused the technician and will pursue local appliance repair shops.

  • Anonymous Dec 19, 2008

Our Kenmore Oasis HE Washer is 11 months old and we are constantly getting the F1 code on every wash load. We have to stand there and wait for the F1 Beep , then hit the stop load and then hit start- (it will take approxiamately 1 minute in between each F1 Beep procedure) you will have to repeat this procedure exactly 3 times in a row to get the wash load to finish.
No one likes doing laundry however, I actually dispise laundry duty which is on a daily basis. It is extremley frustratring trying to wash our clothes. No one should have to go thru this- Sears has already been out here for a service call for the F1 Beep.
Is there a Class Action Lawsuit that I can be added to? If so, who is it and how do I get the name and number for the Law Firm?
Let's take a stand together--it is obvious that Sears knows about this and that no one is going to do a recall without someone behind it.

  • akittle Dec 24, 2008

I have the same problem. My machine is about two years old and within the past three weeks this started. I will hear a beeping coming from the washing machine and when I check on it there is a F1 code and the cylce has stopped. At first I would restart the cycle once and it worked fine. Now it takes three attempts until it is working. I do not have the time for this!

  • tlbc Dec 26, 2008

My less than two year old washer is unusable as it stops every two minutes with a F1 error code. I stumbled across an attorney firm investigating the problem http://toploadclassaction.com/ Sounds like these washers should be recalled.

  • suewalker00 Dec 27, 2008

I have the F1 error code stopping the machine. It is approximately 1 yr old.

  • photobugg Dec 29, 2008

I am glad I am not the only one that is having this problem. I am so upset with this washing machine that I could set it outside and burn it. It has been nothing but problems since I have bought it. I didn't even have it for 2 months and I had the error F1 code. They have come out and serviced my washer about 4 times. The only thing they would do for me was to extend my warranty for a extra 6 months. Guess what my warranty ran out in Sept. and I started having the code come up again. I am really really anger because now I will have to pay the fee for the service techs to come out to my house to fix the stupid washing machine that cost a fortune. I have emailed the corporate offices and talked to them on the phone but only the extended warranty for 6 months. I am going to write a letter and email them again. I refuse to buy anything from Sears again.

  • ldsadler2 Dec 31, 2008

Same problem here. Locate the service tech manual on the back side of the front panel. Push in on the two clips about 6 1/2" from the sides in the crack on the top of the front panel and lift the top assembly out of the way. Reach in on the left side and find the manual in a zip lock type bag glued to the back side of the front panel. The manual identifies all the error codes, what they mean and shows how to run a diagnostic. The manual indicates F then 1 flashes when there is a primary control failure. Replace the machine/motor control assembly. The manual then directs you on how to locate this module and replace it. The appliance manager at the Sears where I bought mine was of absolutely no help and somewhat blamed me because I didn't buy the extended warrantee. If you go to
http://www3.sears.com/, you'll find the part is backordered. Also consider the class action investigation at http://www.toploadclassaction.com/index..... Good luck with your nice expensive washer.

  • Anonymous Jan 05, 2009

I have a Kenmore Elite Oasis and it is also getting the F1 error. I contacted both Sears and Kenmore and neither company will do anything. I just submitted my request to the class action suit - it looks like the only way to get some response from irresponsible companies.

  • Anonymous Jan 06, 2009

My washer is only 18 months old and started with the F1 CODE. I have the extended warranty, and the repair service is on its way in a few days. On my first call to the repair center they told me to unplug the unit for a few minutes. That did nothing!!!!!!After reading your comments I will ask the repair man to install a new computer board. The tech on the phone acted like she had never heard of this problem. I looked it up on the computer today and can't believe all these problems are similar to mine. Will let you know what the repair service does

Getting the f-1 code - please help. [email protected]

  • Anonymous Jan 09, 2009

My washer is 2 years old and it started giving the F1 code. The repair man acted like this was the first time he had heard of this problem and that it wasn't a reoccurring problem with this type of machines. I had my non -computer Kenmore for 20 years with very little problems. I think Sears should stay out of the computer business since they can't seem to make a good product and stick with simple. With this many complaints Sears need to take responsibilty for what they have sold and make it right.

  • Anonymous Feb 02, 2009

2 year old Kenmore Oasis HE receives the F1 Code after 5 seconds of the washer dispensing water. I press stop and start and it fixes it. My solution to eliminating the problem entirely: 1) reset the system by unplugging it. 2) Remove interface cover and pull off and put on all connectors. I performed step 2 to make sure there is no loose connections.

The F1 code means that the assembly board has to be replaced. To learn what all the error codes mean you have to read the technical reference guide which is hiding in a plastic pouch on the wall directly underneath the he detergent dispenser. The best way to get to that is to remove the plastic liner that holds the he dispenser in place. This requires a little hands on skills

When you start your load do you have to push the rinse and drain button every time?

  • dtor62 Feb 22, 2009

I have to agree with all the other users of this product who has posted their problem here about the "F1" code. I have the Kenmore Elite Oasis washer that was purchased in 07. I get the same codes. I also agree this problem needs to be address to the manufacturer through a higher authority. It is a manufacturer problem, Sears is just a seller of the product, however, they should be addressing this problem back to the manufacturer on the consumers behalf. It appears through all these complaints that have been posted, that Sears is not taking a firm stand in addressing this defect on the product to the Kenmore Manufacturer. Additionally, I would also involve the Consumer Products Committee on this issue and the Better Business Bureau. Hopefully, through the petitions and the Law Firm that is investigating the problem will have fruit to bear in a form of compensation for the consumer. As consumers we need to be compensated for this product malfunction, a cash voucher for the original purchase price, or a 5 year warranty replacement with a "Like" item agreement after they take the bad product back. This reminds me of the defective tire issue that Firestone had....everyone who ran those tire, got them replaced for FREE, including the spare!!!!

I have a Kenmore Elite Oasis HE top load washing machine which I purchased in 2006. And I get the F1 code on and off since a year ago, which means, the problem started appear after a year and half in use. At this point, by restart, I can start use the machine. But surely this is not what I purchased for. I just started the process of understand what is the real problem and how can I resovle this issue, so feed back would be great!

  • Shine86 Mar 09, 2009

Same problem, not even a three year old washer and on start up error "F1" appears. Push stop then start a few times and it works. Right after I purchased my washer AND dryer, the dryer had problems. Luckily, it was still under warranty. However, the washer is not. I will NOT be buying a Kenmore again and will not buy from Sears again! Seems this problem is too common!!

  • Lis92rs Mar 22, 2009

Add me to the list of people having the F1 code problem! I have been having this problem for awhile now and decided to look online and couldn't believe how many people are having the same exact problem! Of course my washer is also out of warranty!!

  • Anonymous Mar 22, 2009

Unfortunately, I too own the Kenmoore Oasis Elite model washing machine and have encountered the F1 code problem. I have owned the washer for about 1 1/2 years. I am very dissappointed with Sears service and Kenmoore's reliability. Do not buy this product from Sears. Better yet, do not buy Kenmoore.

    Well...there it goes again :-(

  • Anonymous Mar 30, 2009

Sears is now offering a free fix to this problem. I just got their letter in the mail on March 28, 2009. They will replace the board for free. No installation charge, either. If you are the original purchaser of the machine you should get a letter. If you don't, contact them.

  • ruffman Apr 05, 2009

Started getting an F1 error when using the Express setting, now seeing it in the normal setting also. lke others reporting here, if I keep trying it eventually works, but I wonder for how long. I like the machine as a washer but wonder if this the beginning of a line of trouble.

  • ibale01 Apr 13, 2009

I have the same problem the F1 code with the Kenmore Elite Oasis HE top load washing machine. I purchased mine in August 2007 and this F1 error has been going on for 3 months now. We called Sears and a technician came and he says he has the electronic motherboard in his van but it will cost us $300+ to fix. It is weird because he charged me the same price for the part and labor. I got upset with him and he says I have to pay for the $75 for his inhome service. I told him wtf didnt you guys tell me how much it will cost before I had you come over here when you already have the part in your van. This means you guys are having issues like these with others. I told him to leave and called Sears and I wrote to Channel 13 news in Las Vegas. I spent $1800 for both the washer and dryer and was told it was a reliable machine. Then I get a letter in the mail that Sears is now offering a free upgrade for the machine if the first four of my serial# fall between CT01 through CT49. The first 4 of my seriol# is CT51. So, i dont qualify for it. It is stupid and ridiculous. The fact that they have a resolution for the others but not a resolution for my machine that I spent $1000+ on. In the beginning I already had problems with the machine and when I called it in, they detected no problems and now, here I am emotionally distressed over the money I spent for this machine and they cant fix it because my warranty expired. Please help me.

F1 at the start of every load of wash, have to restart multiple times during wash cycle. Bleach dispenser & fabric softener dispensers do not drain, water leaks on floor during about half of the washes. I would not recommend this expensive washer to anyone.

same codes CALL SEARS FOR FREE RECALL REPAIR

  • Anonymous May 11, 2009

Ladies and Gentleman thank you for your posts.  I have been having the F! error on my Kenmore Elite Oasis HE washer since January of 2008.  I have to repeatedly press stop and start for the machine to work.  Then go back just before the rinse and press stop and start until it works again.  I was very upset when this happened because my warrantee had just expired two weeks before.  I have owned several Kenmore washers and never had a problem like this.

Thanks to a post earlier I made a few phone calls to find out about the recall on the washer.  In the end I had to call Kenmore Whirlpool manufacturer at 1-800-659-7026.  They should have your information on file.  They will ask for the serial number of your washer.  There is a huge waiting list, but they say they will replace the board free of charge.  Yeah!  Fix my washer.

Just so everyone knows:  My sister purchased the same washer at about the same time I did and has not experienced any problems with her machine.  Somehow I attract the lemons.

  • Anonymous May 11, 2009

My F1 error code comes on all the time as well, like many users have posted. I called the phone number listed in one of the postings, 1-800-659-7026 had to give them the model and serial number (inside the loading lid) and they put me on the list. They said I qualified to have it fixed but they are backorder for the panel to fix this problem and it would take 3 or so weeks for someone one to call me back to schedule an appointment time. There wasn't any confirmation number or account # they could give me. They guy told me he just fills out a form and submits it. I had to laugh...they called the control panel to fix the problem an "upgrade". They said if I wanted to have it fixed sooner than they could do it, to call Sears but I'd have to pay for it and seek a reimbursement later on (from whom, this customer service rep didn't know....hmmmm.) At least my name is on the list....

Apparently Kenmore has not resolved the problem. MY machine is approx. 3 years old. Warranty expired, of course. I called the 800 # and they told me that my specific model was not covered....hmmmmmm, so I figured I would wait. I have been doing the "stop/start" dance for months, and it seemed to be working OK. Now my machine is making an aweful noise. I called Sears today. This time I asked them to give ME all of the model numbers covered by the "upgrade". Mine is not covered....even though it is the same error message, on the same washer. I am so disappointed in this whole process. I will never buy another appliance from Sears again.

We've owned this POS for several years now and have already replaced the board once (at our expense). A few months ago it started doing it again. Our serial number is in the parameter for the "upgrade" so we're going to really fight them over getting this resolved. I want a washer like my grandmother had that lasted her over 20 years with not one problem. I even had it for a few years after that and finally sold it still working great. If I have to replace it, I'm going back to the old style of machine without all the BS electronics. Who needs the hassle.

4/16/2013 - Called 800-659-7026 and gave them the PN and SN. They're sending the control board to my house and asked me to call back when it arrives for installation.

  • Anonymous Apr 23, 2013

OK, so I bought the Sears Kenmore Elite Oasis Canyon Capacity washer and dryer about six years ago, had a fail of both with multiple codes 3 months into ownership. I had extended in home warranty and service guy came out twice, fixed dryer and told me the washer control board was bad and was a known problem but he couldn't replace it unless there were three tries to fix it, even if only temporary resets. I asked him what I should do and he shrugged and said "call again." Stunning. I called again with the next fail code (2 days later) and it was replaced for free under warranty. Has worked without fail codes since then but now have same F1 beeping. Can still force machine to work but beeps all night while not in use unless unplugged. Called the 800 number this am and told my machine was not on recall list. I read this discussion board and called back to see if I could request the "upgrade" instead of the "recall" and before I could get that far, the call center this time said there was a recall and has scheduled a delivery of control board and service appt. for 4/30/13, one week from now. I'm assured this is no cost despite long since expired extended warranty. So if this works, be sure to call back if rejected the first time. I'm not sure if the words "upgrade" triggered the helpful response because I don't even think she heard me, but worth saying both magic words, recall and upgrade. I too will never by Kenmore anything based on this experience despite having grown up with this name as representative of quality and value.

Just called the 1800-659-7026 number listed below they referred me to another number 1-88-549-5870 and all is fine. They will send the control board out to your address and once received they'll send a tech to install. Thanks Giggity for the information.

I have had more problems with my Kenmore Elite Oasis. I purchased another service plan just to have to wait almost a month for parts and a service appointment. The technician just left my home and I attempted to do a load of clothes and got the F1 error code. I am now waiting for the technician to return-I am very disappointed in Sears and their products

  • Linda Dickman Sep 24, 2018

I realize I am about 5 years behind the others in having this problem. I have an Oasis Elite 110.27062603. I just called the 800-659-7206 number and was told my machine was not on recall and to call Sears for repair. I had a trustworthy local repair person out earlier and he knew the exact. When he called for the part, he we told it is no longer available. Any suggestions?

Ok so you will all love this answer. Not only do I own this set but I also sell them at sears in des moines, ia. Ok so there was a recall on the controll boards it's fine don't be scared all you have to do is call 1800-659-7026 give them your info and model and ser.# they will then send someone out to replace the control board it takes about ten min for all of it and it is all free no matter when you bought it. But in mean time quick fix for all of you is to unplug the washer then hit power then stop over and over tell there is no power left in it then plug it back in and it will work fine for awhile you may have to repeat if it does it again. But after they come out it will work fine. yes this has happened to me it sucks it took two years to find out what was wrong they didn't even tell us I had to ask alot of parts guys and look it all up. So for everyone that this is happening to I'm sorry I just hope this gets out to all of you because I work very hard to know my product and take care of my customers ask any of them and it's not easy working STRAIGHT commission and people don't want to come back for these kind of things. But remember the reason why you came there in the first place we will give you the lowest prices in town and we know what we are talking about, well most do if not they ask me:) so I realy hope this helps someone out there.

This actually worked! I have a service appointment scheduled, but thought I'd try this to see if I can temporily get rid of the F1 problem and it worked. Sears has been very helpful and responsive. I don't think this is a Sears issue but more so a Kenmore issue. My husband has had this washer since 2006, and it just started having issues. This is being covered by a service protection agreement I purchased earlier this year for another issue I had with the washer. I'm glad I bought the service agreement; atleast we will be covered for another year.

  • Anonymous Aug 11, 2012

Thank you for the helpful information. They are sending the part to my home. And they also scheduled an appointment for a technician to come out to install it.

  • Anonymous Aug 28, 2012

To Giggity_03. Thank You so much for your posted info. I have the same issue with the F1 error code and this was the first link I found when searching for a fix. I just called and they have already ordered the part for us. It's just a shame that they didn't advise folks of this recall. That really stinkss because I'm sure there are a ton of other folks out there that have the same problem but have not been fortunate enough to find this post. Sears and or Kenmore ought to be ashamed of themselves for this type of practice. But it sure is nice to know that there are some great sales folks as yourself to help people find out about this issue. Thanks so much again. Cheers, Mark W.

I have the model 110.27062603 werial CU0670035 and was just told that this machine which is having the same issue is not covered. I am not happy with sears at this time. They said it wasnt a safety hazard. I cant believe they are not backing up their product.

I have the model 110.27072603 and it is not covered either. I was told the only model that the mentioned recall applies to is 110.27072602. Bummer! What does the error code even mean?

  • Anonymous Dec 08, 2012

I have the same machine as you... today, I opened up the upper console as per the video beneath, and found that clear air-line.... snipped off the last 1/2 inch and reinserted it onto the teat... so far, my problem is solved. As an aside, I did notice that my water-lines were reversed... on the machine, the left-side inlet is Cold, and the right-side is Hot...the very opposite to the usual plumbing connections of faucets... no wonder my HOT washes didn't seem quite clean enough!

  • Anonymous Jul 12, 2013

I have model number 110.27082604 and was told the recall only included up to 2603. Why can the auto industry, TV manufactures, air conditioner manufactures and others can build electronics that last for years and years and the appliance manufactures can't seem to build a circuit board that will last much longer than past warranty. Both circuit boards in my washer and dryer had to be replaced after only a couple of years with just my wife and I using them. I have a feeling the appliance manufactures have designed them that way to make more money. The price of these parts are very high

PROBLEM RESOLVED!!!

The best I could find by scouring the internet was that it was a communication problem between the central control unit and the electronic control box. I was getting F1 codes that would stop the wash, then diagnostics showed F68 and F41 codes.
Sears wanted to charge $65 just to come out and diagnose it themselves, and these appliance sites wanted to charge their own fees to offer solutions. So I took a chance and ordered a new electronic control box ($146.00 + S&H) and installed it myself.
There are three long screws behind the control unit "hood", in the back-top of the washer, facing straight up and down. After unscrewing, I lifted up the hood up and forward, and there was a black box - the electronic control. First, you should check all the wires and make sure the connections are ok. If that still doesn't fix it, unplug all the wires, and take the electronic control out by unscrewing one 1/4" bolt. Put the new one in and re-wire everything (it shows what wires go where on the electronic control box - named by colors). No more error codes!

This washer is only a year and a half old as well, I guess it will pobably be my last Kenmore/Whirlpool.

I was getting the same error code F1. Did some research and found what needed to be replaced. From Partstore.com you need to order the following:

Whirlpool - MACHINE & MOTOR - W10189966

This part replaces W10201186.

I replaced the part myself and no more F1 code. All is working well.

The part is easy to replace. There are three screws along the top of the control panel in the rear. Remove the screws and the control panel can be slid forward to service the board. Once you recieve the part and remove the control panel you will see the big part that needs to be replaced.

Hope this helps.

April 2010 Have had this same problem since 08. Contacted Sears and Kenmore several times and my model number is not on their "list" therefore they will not do the repairs. I am deeply dissatisfied and annoyed with Sears repair service. They have been no help in regards to the issue I am having with my Kenmore Elite top loading washer. The model # is 110.27062603, serial # CU0670862. I have been getting an F1 error every time the wash cycle begins, I have to repeatedly press stop and start for the machine to work. Then go back just before the rinse cycle and press stop and start until it works again. When I called Sears repair I initially got the run around, being given several different numbers to call and finally not being helped at all. I was told that because my model number wasn't one of the ones on their list, I would have to pay for repairs. It seems that if I am having the same exact problems as those listed on the "bad " list they would repair my washer. These washers either need to be recalled or repaired without charging the customer for the repairs. I will make it a point to bring further awareness to this issue and post it on as many forums as I can.

I also have had the same F1 error code. I had a Sears tech come out to look at it. He took the cover off the controls and said it was the electronic control panel. The cost to fix it was $420. I said no thanks and he was on his way. I paid $129 for a 10 minute service call. I looked on this web site and called the 1-800-659-7026 number. I gave them my model number 11027092602 and serial number and they said there is a recall for this issue and they scheduled a service call to come out and replace the part free of charge.

Don't buy anything from Sears!!! I have the same F1 problem. I replaced the electronic control board and still have the same problem. They obviously don't care about their customers. I am going to try to connect and re-connect the connections around the water inlet like others did. Hopefully it works. I will never buy anything from Sears again.

The internet is a wonderful tool! I too am having the F1 code appear at the beginning of the wash cycle, but after stopping and starting about four times, it continues on with its cycle. I called the Kenmore Manufacturer from the start 1-800-659-7026 and gave the Model & Serial No. They are sending me free of charge by UPS the replacement Board with an appt. with a tech to install. We have yet to see if this is the solution.

Sears is now offering a free fix to this problem. I just got their letter in the mail on March 28, 2009. They will replace the board for free. No installation charge, either. If you are the original purchaser of the machine you should get a letter. If you don't, contact them.

Thanks to the posters who shared their solutions... We too are just out of warranty and started having this problem... of course our serial # starts with a CU, so we are not covered by the recall...

Anywho, we had service scheduled for this morning, but they were taking too long and I had to run, so I jumped on here, read the suggested fixes, tried them, and seem to be working just fine now.

I agree with the poster above who believes the problem is with the connections around the water intakes... I didn't unseat/reseat those first, just the ones around the control board, and it didn't work... I re-read the fix and tried those connections, and presto, no more F1 error!!!

Thanks again to those who posted solutions!!!

I just experience the same problem. F2 error on washer. If you are out of warranty, contact Sears 1 source ( 1-800-479-6351 option 7) complain like heck to the representative and demand compensation. I was quoted for almost $400 bucks to repair my washer. I got them to reimburse me for the trip cost, labor, and 100 dollars toward the part. They could not offer any more than 100 dollars on a 200 dollar control unit. I expressed how much I was disattisfied with this washer failing in almost a year and a half of service. I also was able to sqeeze a 100 dollar gift card from Sears. Don't let them get away scott free. Post your success

I also have the F1 problem on my Oasis HE washer. Received a letter from Sears (4/11/09) advising of an electronic control board upgrade to ''improve product performance and quality''. So hopefully this will also correct the issue of error codes. I'll call Monday to set up an appoinment for the free upgrade. S/N ranges are listed to qualify for the new board.

As I stated earlier, I too had this problem. I would get the F1 code every time I started my washer. I called Sears Repair to come out. My Control Panel was replaced. The original control panels that were installed in these machines, all built around the same time had a glitch in them. They are replacing all the bad ones with a different model control panel. At this time there is no recall so the customer has to pay for the repair. The repair cost was $367.00. Instead of paying that amount I bought a 1 year extended warranty that cost me $214.99 which covers everything. Don't buy anything with a computer in it because the machine is only good as long as the computer is working. An old fashion washer would have been a better choice.

The F1 problem with the washer is on RECALL. I received a letter in the mail from Sears asking if my Serial # falls inline with the defective "Control Board." Mine did and they delivered a replacement part to my home and the service tech came and replaced it.

If your Kenmore Oasis HE model # 110.27062602 with Serial number of CT50XXXXX or higher your out of luck. I just spent 10 minutes on the phone and the lady kept saying sorry but they are not under recall at this time for F1 code. Any ideas? Mine takes forever to get going due to stop and start all the time.

I'm in the F1 club. Bought unit in 2007, F1 errors in 2009... still have it to this day.

Sears told me my unit was not apart of the recall, I was SOL as far as they were concerned.

I tried the posted fix-- reseat the cables around the water intake... I went further and used electronic cleaning solution on the sensors] after removing their plastic color clips. The F1 problem "seemed" to have gone away but ... alas, came back almost 20 or 30 mins after the "fix". This fix did NOT work, at least for me.

The controller board costs $133 and is SUPER EASY to replace from what I can tell.

Sears SUX.. never again. $1,000 "high tech" washing machine turned out to be a $1,000 boat anchor. When I replace the controller board, I __will__ dissect the old board and test every component to see what it was that went bad. My thought is there is either a blown pico fuse or a dried up micro capacitor [most likely].

Hi, unfortunately we have the same issue, but we are not the original owners of the machine, it was in the house when we bought it. This error code drives me crazy, so started researching it today. Were you able to order your board online? If so, do you have any recommendations on a website?

    Thanks!

    mom2ty,

I found the board on Sears' website. You'll need the model number which is underneith the lid. They give you a LONG list of model numbers... mine was on the 5th page. The board was around $133.

But honestly, if you have 350-400 to spend, don't buy the board.. toss the washing machine in the trash and buy a new washer... the old reliable mechanical ones are hands-off... and when they break, they cost 30-50 to fix, not hundreds.

Btw, I've isolated the problem to the "pressure actuator", it's the part that has a long clear tube coming out of it [on the control board.. can't miss it]. It's a Honeywell part. I ordered a new one and will replace it... but the "level" indicator has gone bad... and explains why once in a while the tube will over flow. The part is $20. The PCB that the controller uses is HAND MADE (by slave children in India no doubt) so replacing parts on it is very, very easy.

I called the Sears Product Recall Resolution line~~ 800-659-7026! Amazingly, I received a prompt, immediate response and was told that the F1 error code on my 2006 OasisHE is due to a control panel problem (spin performance) and is indeed a recall! A new electronic control panel has been ordered FREE of any charges and will be installed FREE of any charges in 2 weeks. Be sure to call this number and check it out before you do anything else!!! Do not call Sears Appliance Center or tech support or use their website. You'll be sorry!!!!! I know this from experience.

    Stewrone,

This has been known for awhile. The problem with the machine CONTINUES to this day but anyone with a machine purchased after 2009 can NOT take advantage of recall. Sears has decided they'll fix the issue on earlier models [they go by serial number] but NOT on newer ones... strange, huh?

I was told my machine did not "qualify" for the recall.

My machine is fixed now, btw, by replacing the part [see above], the actuator. I had to manually resolder a new part in but once done, works like new. This honeywell part is guaranteed [GUARANTEEEEEED!] to break again because, according to the spec sheet, it is NOT designed to **** up water, it was desided to **** up OIL and is used in oil reserve tank applications to determine the level of oil... NOT WATER. Well, the water evaps, gets into the part and you have failure.

**** poor designed. Absolutely **** poor.

I have the same problem only mine is not in the recall, only certain numbers are even though it is the same washer. I have tried all the numbers and they all say yes there is a problem but until my number is added to recall there is nothing they will do even though it is a Kenmore Oasis HE washer 18 mos old.

Got these errors after our move.... had sears come out and replace the control board [they had to come out 3 different times before it was fixed -- we went almost 8 weeks without a washer].
They fixed it for a resonable price due to the recall. Worked for about 2 weeks and yesterday am getting F1 error again -- UGH! This has been such a huge pain.

I just called 1-800-659-7026 after receiving the F1 error code on my Kenmore Elite Oasis washing machine (model number MOD: 110.27062600). It IS on recall. The company you are calling is A&E Factory Service - they're handling the recall.

You'll need the model number and serial number when you call. The mod and serial number can be found just under the lid on a sticker on the inside back lip of the washer (top back of opening where you put the clothes in).

They said they are going to send the part out right away and I should have it within 3 to 5 business days. Once I receive the part I call them back and they will send a technician out to install it. 100% free of charge. So far, so good. Easy enough.

Thank you to everyone who posted - I am having the same "F1" problem and through these posts I called the toll free number and they are sending a new part and installing for free. The customer service person stated "there is no recall" but there is "an upgrade." The "upgrade" is free for both the part and the installation - seems like a "legalize" way of gettting out of replacing the part for everyone unless they are smart enough to have found this site. Thank you again

Here is a link to an incident report to the Consumer Product Safety Commission: http://www.saferproducts.gov/ViewIncident/1170505
After you read the report, go to the top of the page and click on Report An Unsafe Product and fill out the form. In the Incident Description box give them your model and serial numbers and ask that they be included in the recall. If enough people let them know that ALL the models and serial numbers are having exactly the same problem as the ones in the recall, maybe they'll make Sears fix them all for free.

Just wanted to thank those who shared their solution... We actually had a service call scheduled for this morning ( we are just a couple months out of warranty too), and they were taking to long (I was going to have to leave), so I jumped on here, read the suggested fix, and went up and gave it a shot... and voila!!!, it appears to be working just fine now.

I agree with the poster that said it seems to be the connections around the water intakes... I didn't unseat/reseat those to begin with, just all the ones around the board, and it didn't work. I re-read the fix again and went back to those specific connections, and tried it again, and no more F1 error!

Thanks again for posting!!!

I just want to say that my Kenmore Oasis HE washer is just 14 months old - of course the warrant has expired.  We had to replace the computer and the control panel and we are still having problems!!!!!  What a lemon - do not buy this washer

  • TLLLUCKE Sep 01, 2010

Kenmore Oasis 2709 HE-This machine is definitely a lemon! Our washer did not stop spinning when out of balance and self destructed!!! The out of control spinning tub dented out both sides and front of the machine before finally ripping through the screws and busting out the back- all within 10 to 15 seconds and with no warning! I paid $129 to have a technician come look at it to tell me it was beyond repair before Sears would talk to me and tell me they were sorry it is not under warranty and try to sell us another washer.

The Kenmore Elite washing machine gets an F1 code on the digital readout then stops. Once the start and stop buttons are cycled a couple of times the machine starts running again.
