On this model the brake must be ON and PTO OFF for engine to crank.
Turning ignition switch to start position connects battery to the ignition switch "S" pole, then goes through the brake switch then through the PTO switch to the starter solenoid.
The solenoid checked out fine. Also tested the brake safety switch and pto safety switch. Both work fine. Although I had checked the 30amp fuse and determined the fuse was ok, I found that fuse block was bad - so no current though the circuit. By the way, the location and mounting position for the solenoid is a horrible spot to work with. Just one of the many irritating issues I have with this mower.
