I have a print job in the queue that won't delete and giving other jobs a higher priority doesn't get me past that job. I also get a message saying that the printer isn't communicating, but I have already done a hard power restart, reconnected the usb cable, rebooted my computer and confirmed that windows firewall is allowing file and printer sharing. What can I do?

I have no CD in order to reinstall the USB device. The machine copies and now prints, but not scans!!
SOURCE: 'Communication Not Available' message when printer cable connect
With the Lexmark printers communication subsystem you MUST let the driver ask for you to plug in the printer. DO NOT plug the printer into the USB port until told to do so.
To fix a fouled install:
(1) Uninstall the Lexmark drivers in Add Remove Programs
(2) Shutdown the computer
(3) Disconnect the printer from the USB port
(4) Restart the computer
(5) Run the Driver Installation software
(6) Cancel ALL attempts by windows to auto install the printer
(7) When the software asks for the printer connect it and continue

There should have been some software that came with the cable. This is a utility that has to run on the system to enable the printer to communicate across the USB to paralell jump.
1. Browse to Start -> Run... and type in NET STOP SPOOLER (this will stop the
print spooler service)
2. Browse to your windows\system32\spool\PRINTERS\
folder. You should see files there ending in .SPL and .SHD created around the
time you tried to print - delete these files.
3. Browse to Start -> Run... and type in NET START SPOOLER (this will restart the
print spooler service)
4. Double click the printer icon in the lower-right corner of your taskbar to examine your print job queue and browse to View -> Refresh.
