Be sure the belt guides are in place. if they are not in place or bent this will cause the belt to fall out of the pulley.

SOURCE: engine stalls when electric PTO clutch is engaged

check your spacers to be sure you havent locked the clutch assembly directly to the motor shaft
you should be able to turn it fairly free less some clutch drag

SOURCE: cub cadet pto won,t stay engaged

Sounds more like a PTO clutch failure, rather than the switch. The clutch is mounted on the engine shaft, between the hydrostatic drive pulley (nearest the chassis) and the mower deck belt pulley (farther from the chassis).
Since it's an expensive part, make sure the problem isn't in the switch or wiring first. You could do that by probing the wires to the PTO clutch with an automotive test light - they are inexpensive and handy. Clip the ground wire of the test light to the chassis, and probe the hot wire to the clutch (it's the one that doesn't connect to ground) when the engine is running and the PTO switch is engaged. Obviously a helper has to be in the seat, and you should be careful doing this. If the light glows brightly, and the clutch doesn't engage, you definitely have a bad clutch. Good luck! Please rate my answer if helpful, thanks.

SOURCE: Mower pto engages when initially started but after

the coil in the electric PTO shorts out when it expands by heat causing it to lose it's magnetic pull and disengages- I hate to say it,but you need a new PTO clutch.

How to replace mower belt for ZTR cub cadet mower

Changing the Blade Drive Belts:
a.Set the parking brake. Remove ignition key and both spark plug caps.
b.Unscrew the wing nuts from the deck covers and remove both covers.
c.Using a 3/8" socket breaker bar or socket ratchet insert the drive end into the 3/8" square opening in the lower idler arm assembly and push the idler arm counterclockwise. While holding the idler arm back, loosen the blade drive belt from the pulley and slide the belt away from the pulley.
d.Remove tension of the PTO belt by moving the belt tensioning rod. Loosen the belt retaining bolt.
e.Pull the tensioner pulley away from the belt and remove the PTO belt then remove the blade drive belt.
f.Reverse the process to install the belt.

My cub cadet tractor starts but the pto clutch stays engeged and i cant shut it off(pto)

The clutch has it's own brearings in it. You have to replace the hole PTO.Sometimes you can find a Aftermarket PTO clutch. There usually A little cheaper.

Pto blows the fuse everytime i engage it on my rzt 50 cub cadet mower.

Wire harness for the PTO on the RZT's is designed dangerously near the drive pulley. After time, the harness drops and comes in contact with the pulley which grinds through the coating and shorts out the circuit. Repair (tape up) the wiring, relocate the the wire to the opposite side of the crank pulley (may have to zip-tie in place) - shouldn't be a problem anymore.

I have a cub cadet LT1042 and it is 3 years old...we have replaced the pto 2 times and replaced the belt 7 times what is the deal

You have to have something rubbing under there that isn't supposed to be, crawl under the tractor and watch the belt go around by hand, if you can turn it. Maybe see what is frozen up, in the wrong place, Gotta be a belt guide is rubbing or a pulley is not spinning. The PTO should last 20 years, all i can think is they got it too tight to start, .010" min, that is tight, and you must be in Florida picking up a lot of sand? If it was under any kind of warranty, I would raise a big stink about it. Those PTO's are not cheap. And the belt has got to be $20. I wouldn't go to a dealer for the belt, unless it is really special, just match it up at the auto parts store, for half the price of dealer. Hope this helps.

Check your mower deck spindles and belt. If belt is slipping at all the PTO will not engage.
