My Kymco Midi mobility scooter won't move, and no green indicator fault level.

I have a Kymco midi, it started ok, battery full, moved for a few minutes and then suddenly stopped, started a high pitched whine and green indicator is dead, no flashing or colour at all. Anyone any ideas??

No Rob, my only thought is that it might have got wet during the storms this week. Had a really good cover over it but that’s all I can think of.

I’m in UK, I’ve put it in the shed and covered it, hopefully it’ll dry out a bit over the weekend then I’ll see what’s next. Thanks

the indicator being dead does imply that the controller may have a fault, yes it could be the little board mounted under the battery gauge etc known as the tiller board , the high pitch whine sounds like a short on that board unless the horn button has water inside causing it to come on..

SOURCE: A high pitched whining noise in the engine.

This Noise Description sounds Indicative of the Sounds that come from the Serpentine Belt Or Related parts such as Belt Idler Pulley or Belt Tentioner witch also has a Pulley, but if Tensioner itself is Literally BROKE I've replaced a number like this it will cause a Whining noise . Best case scenario its just the Belt, and if any of the other Problems turn out to be the Culprit the Belt MUST be Replaced Anyhow as Damage is Being caused By the Very Whining you hear.
PLEASE Spend the Extras $ for the BEST BELT as this Drives your Water pump, Alternator, A/C Compressor, Power Steering Pump All Crucial to Control of, easy Steering ,All Electrical-Power Distribution, The COOLING of Engine << VERY CRITICAL Component
The Pulleys usually have a more Hum type Whining. So I would say at Best The BELT , And WORST Belt Tentioner is Broke

SOURCE: High Pitch whine during acceleration

Hi Pullerwife,

I have a few suggestions for you,

First of all, check your air filter, make sure its clean, not clogged, and doesn't need to be changed.

I don't know how handy you are, but if you are fairly handy, check the idler pulley bearings, if your not, have a shop check it out, as a last resort.

Power steering pump/fluid being low is also a possibility, but thats usually more of a lower pitched whine then what you describe.

You say once the vehicle is warmed up, the whining stops. Does Weather seem to be a factor as well?

Hope I've helped, and don't forget to rate.

SOURCE: high pitch noise from engine compartment in 2003 Subaru Fores

There is a little beeper that sits just behind the front grill close to the Subaru emblem. It makes the sound you hear when you press the remote to lock or unlock the doors. It sometimes whines for a while but eventually stops. I have had this for a couple of years and it does not appear to have caused any problems.

SOURCE: loud engine whine (like a jet noise) from 2002 subaru forester

I listened to a few parts of my 03 forester engine with a stethoscope. I had the same high pitched whine that gets louder when I accelerate. I've even had friends that ask if I have a turbo haha. Anyway, I thought it was a pulley, but it appears to be the power steering pump that makes the noise. It wasn't suggested to me that a new pump was needed, but I might replace it one day to get rid of the noise.

Kymco midi 4 plus dont move 9 flashes on light

hi,if the scooter in question is using a PGDrives controller, it saying there is a controller trip issue, this can be a internal problem within the controller but first disconnect all connectors, refit making sure they are a tight fit... and check hopefully that might resolve it for you ...

I do carry out free controller testing..

Hello i have a kymco xl mobility scooter which has developed a fault flashing green light.2 flashes pause 2 flashes pause and so on.i haven't got a owners manual and trying to find one on line is...

Hi , is it the Midi or Maxi XL model ? PG Controller (normally a silver colour ) has the following as the listed fault

There is a bad connection to the motor and the controller

If 's it a Rhino controller normally a blue colour ,

The battery is completely empty. The scooter does not drive.
• Recharge the battery immediately.
If the scooter is left off for a few minutes, the battery may recover enough
to allow driving again for a short time. However, driving on an empty
battery may cause damage to the battery.
