Check the wires to the seat switch. Under the seat you should find 2 wires connected to the seat. Unplug them, and use a jumper on the end that goes into the body of the mower. Try it again, and if it works, replace your seat.

SOURCE: riding mower dies when releasing brake

the seat switch is the problem. the switch itself could be bad, but usually theproblem is that the connector is just not plugged in all the way [by the way, trying to bypass the switch by inserting the wire doesn't work because there is a "switch" inside the connector to prevent you from doing just what you did]

If you are talking about driving it, just push foot on the regular brake and it should release. If you are talking about pushing it without any power on, you must pull the bypass lever on the back of mower and lock it out. sometimes you have to pull several times.

Craftsman Zero Turn

There are adjustments on the levers and the wheel motors. They are located under the seat and are a buckle style adjustment. One side is RH thread and the other is LH thread this enables the rod to lengthen or shorten depending on the turning of the buckle.
