Need owners manual (not users guide) for Kenmore stove model 790.46783900. tried all suggestions for deleting SAB mode.

I believe your model number actually reads "AER5725QAN" This is the closest match I could find for the model number you provided. The instructions for Sabbath mode are listed on page 12 of your owner's manual. To cancel Sabbath Mode you press and hold the CLOCK button for 3 seconds.

The beeping sound is a warning because the oven is in lock condition. The oven is not faulty, and the code is not 5AB, but SAB.

SAB means that the oven is in Sabbath mode, and the control board will be locked for 72 hours with SAB on display.

If power is disconnected a new 72 hours cycle will start.

Push and hold the Clock button for about 10 seconds, that will reset SAB mode.

If that does not work leave the oven connected and off for 72 hours. If the oven does not unlock after three days, then the electronic control may be stuck in SAB mode because it is faulty, in that case contact the manufacturer at the number listed on the owners manual.

On some ranges you press the CLOCK button or the CANCEL button for 3 to 5 seconds to clear the Sabbath Mode. "Sab" will flash for about 5 seconds, then return to normal display.


If this does not work, and since you no longer have an owner's manual, please post back with your MODEL NUMBER (located on a nameplate along the oven door opening, or lower drawer opening - on Maytag models the model number is on the back of the operator console), so I may be able to provide you with better service. There is nothing wrong with your range. The code you are seeing on your display is actually "SAB". It means your range has been set on "Sabbath Mode" which is used by some religions to disable the stove to honor the sabbath. It will remain disabled for up 72 hours unless you turn it off. The procedures to clear this mode differ between manufacturers, so you need to refer to the operating instructions in your Owner's Manual to see how to turn this feature on/off. I am publishing this tip because of the many users asking me about the code 5AB on Amana, Maytag and other ovens.

Error 5AB in fact does not exist , and what you see written on display isnot 5AB.

Depending on the model, there may also be a beeping sound when you try to operate the oven.

Push and hold the Clock button for about 10 seconds, until the display clears, that will reset SAB mode.

If that does not work leave the oven connected and off for 72 hours. If the oven does not unlock after three days, then the electronic control may be stuck in SAB mode because it is faulty, in that case contact the manufacturer at the number listed on the owners manual.

To cancel Sabbath mode:
1. Press the clock pad for 5 seconds
OR
2. After 72 hours, the Sabbath mode will end.
* SAb will flash for 5 seconds
* The time of day will return to the display

to exit sab mode press and hold the "cook time" and "delay start " pads for 3-5 secs. the letters "sab" will appear in display and your good to go!

I finally found my manual to the range, and to change from celsius to fahrenheit press the BROIL button for 5 seconds. A tone will sound, and the temperature should switch to Fahrenheit.

As far as the code PF 5ab--it could be PF Sab which means the power went out during Sabbath mode. Try pressing and holding TIMER OFF for 5 seconds. If that doesn't work, then open the oven door, press STOP/CLEAR, press both the HOUR "up" and "down" arrow pad at the same time and hold for 5 seconds, "Sab OFF" should appear. Press START to accept the change, then close the oven door.
