Hello, I have a Solar 220v 165 mig welder. The wire will purge using the manual purge button, but the gun will not activate the wire feeder. Although the gun does activate the welding unit.

If you use it regularly, the liner should be replaced about every 6 months. Make sure you get a wiper for the wire. It goes inside the machine, on the wire, just before the feed rollers. It keeps the dust from clogging the liner.

The mig welder should be capable of welding aluminum not stainless but the makers should be able to give you more detail. mig is used for steel and aluminum normaly but I do not know this transformer

The other difference between gas/gasless is the ability to reverse the gun polarity which you can't do with a gasless only welder. You can get it to work but not safely and reliability could be an issue also.
