Some inverters don't like being turned on without a load pluged in to it. Try plugging in and turning on an appliance (eg a soldering iron) before connecting the inverter to the battery. If you still get a fault it may be an internal fuse or electronic problem. In this case you'll need to get it repaired.

Why does my 900w microwave trigger the LUP code & alarm?

you need at least a 1900 watt inverter with a fully charged battery to run a 900 watt microwave,it uses 900 watts to make microwaves and it uses 700 or so to run everything else.

Connected a microwave (700 watt) and fault light turns on after few seconds on

engine has to be running with some high wattage items if your engine was running then your inverter is defective.

I am connecting a 1000w Cobra Power inverter to a deep cycle marine battery that will be used to run small appliances while camping. How do I properly connect the inline circut breaker for maximum safety?

The breaker goes in in series.

So, that means (for example) you remove the hot wire to the unit, from the positive battery power source, and hook this wire to one side of the breaker, then connect the other terminal to the positive battery power source.

This will stop current flow if anything over 40 amps happens on the line.

You actually can hook the breaker anywere along the circuit, but the closer to the power source, the better you are protected.

Inverter will not switch to invert when the ac power is turned off

I am assuming that no fault lights are showing on the remote panel, but if they are, then those indicate a problem, e.g. overtemp, or AC overload. If the former, allow the unit to cool down and/or provide more ventilation, and if the latter, reduce the AC load by turning things off. The inverter must be in "standby" mode (green inverter light slowly flashing) for the inverter function to come on automatically when the incoming AC is shut off. Also, the battery bank voltage must be between 10V and 15V for a 12V system, the inline battery fuse must not be blown, and the unit's pop-up breaker (on the right front of the box) must not be tripped.

Electrical problem with console items, nav lights etc

It sounds as though the ground has been lost either at the batteries or along the way from the battery. Check for a good ground at the grounding shunt by using a known live source. If that is good you can run through the process of elimination by checking from the ground shunt to the pigtails, make sure each one is clean and tight. The fuses are often found to be corroded within, if this is the case you might want to change them over to marine quality breakers. It's worth it in the long run. Also make sure your constant feed to the bilge pump is live, it doesn't make sense for those two units to be out, especially the bilge pump. Check the back of your main battery switch for any corrosion or loosness.

Arc fault trips under load

Arc fault breakers are definitely a pain. First make sure the receptacles are made for a 20 amp circuit. Second vacuums, Curlers, and most appliances will trip your breaker since they create an arc or a short if you will to operate. That is exactly what these breakers are made for. To stop the arc. Apparently they never really thought the whole arc fault thing through. As per code in most of arizona you only need this breaker in bedrooms where this type of appliance is not used. They also are more prone to popping so make sure you aren't running something on each of the receptacles at the same time
