I just bought a replacement chain saw blade for my Remington 14'' Limb & Trim. It is an Oregon brand blade which says it is for 14'' Remington among others. But it is a bit too long for what I have. My chain saw does not have a model number on it so I can't match it to the info on the back of the chain saw blade packaging. What is the model number for the Limb & Trim so I can go back and get a suitable replacement. Thanks.

Take it back to where you purchased it or contact them by email/phone and explain your problem (have saw in hand). Together you can solve this. We cannot find the model number on your saw from here. GL

Does the blade ever need to be sharpened or replaced?

A chain saw blade requires sharpening often. It can be in as little as 20 minutes if your cutting a very hard wood. Even less if you happen to allow the blade to be used in dirt.
Here is a video to help you use a "file guide" to sharpen your blade.

What kind of oil do i use for my remington 14 in limb and trim

Hi, I'm assuming you mean the oil for the chain. If so any brand of bar and chain oil is fine. Hope this helps, regards Phil.

I have a Remington 14' Limb n' Trim electric chainsaw. There is an oil reservoir (I think - it has a little rubber cap) and I am not sure if it is for motor oil. If it is, what type of oil should I use?

jmccabe2465-

The reservoir is for bar chain oil, which all chain saws require to allow the chain to operate smoothly and reduce heat build-up from friction.

Hope this helps.

I am trying to find areplacement for a model #

Good news Victor;
Both a bar and 3 different chains are available through an Oregon dealer. The green chain (hover the cursor over the color and there is an explanation) is most likely what your saw came fitted with but all will work, the choice is yours.
Oregon Bar & Chain Selector
http://www.oregonchain.com/pro/lookups/selguide.aspx?BusId=OCS&SellReg=USA&LangId=ENG
I input "Remington; M15014AS; 14"; All; All; All".

14" Remington chain replacement

I input "Remington; EL-1; 14"; All; All; All" here:
Oregon Bar & Chain Selector
http://www.oregonchain.com/pro/lookups/selguide.aspx?BusId=OCS&SellReg=USA&LangId=ENG
It returned "91VG050G, 91VX050G or 91VXL050G". Please read the triangular warning placards. The original chain is most likely green.

Column 4 says a 14" chain has 50 drive links (the part in the bar groove". Please count them, if you get a different number try a different length bar. The Oregon part number can be ordered on line or if given to a local merchant fabricated in their facility.

Remington 14'' limb&trim..chain questions

The honest answer to will any 14" chain fit is no! It is "YES" if it has 50 drive links, a 3/8 pitch, and a gauge of 0.050 will; provided you are using the original bar or a suitable substitute. Manufacturers almost never tell you these numbers. They want you to purchase replacements from them. Any merchant, that sells chain, given (50, 3/8, 0.050) this information can fabricate a replacement chain and unless you tell them differently it will most likely be a green chain. A local merchant will save shipping and handling fees. I enjoyed this exercise in painting with text. I hope you have a better understanding of your question. Thank You.

If you go here:
Oregon Bar & Chain Selector
http://www.oregonchain.com/pro/lookups/selguide.aspx?BusId=OCS&SellReg=USA&LangId=ENG
Input "Remington; LNT-2; 14"; All; All; All"
It tells you there are 50 drive links (the important part of length, ±1 drive link may still be 14” but will not fit); it has a pitch of 3/8 (there are other pitches available); it has a gauge of 0.050 (0.043 & 0.058 also common). If you read the Triangular information tags you will see different chains have more or less chance of kickback. I will not purchase anything with a green tag but have been using chainsaws since 1980 and wear full PPE. I hope this clarifies this part of your question.

A much better Remington explanation of chain installation.

My explanation/example (gas but similar). The repair is the same; burrs are often created when the chain comes off at speed.

Do not have manual and need one. Do not know what type of oil it uses.

According to the manufacturer, "Use SAE 30 motor oil for best results. (For temperatures below 30° F, use SAE 10. For temperatures above 75° F, use SAE 40.) DO NOT use Bar & Chain oil." I will need the actual model number of your saw (it should be loacted on the saw it's self) to see if I can find the manual for you. I hope this helps so far...
