My 55" Sony Wega TV, KDF-E55A20, keeps shutting itself off and turning back on automatically. The green power light stays lit the entire time, and never flashes. No red flashes either. When we're watching TV, it will suddenly shut off, has no pictures for 20-25 seconds (green power light stays lit the entire time, no flashing), then comes back on automatically, followed by audio a couple seconds later. This happens sometimes every 5 minutes, other times, I can go days without it happening. We've cleaned it thoroughly, taken the back off, cleaned it again, tightened everything...Please help...any suggestions?

The main power supply regulator section circuit fault. Either it will be a separate board, or the part of main board. Check and replace damaged component/s at its main power regulator [SMPS] section circuit. Contact any service technician. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. It will be best to replace the power supply regulator board as card basis rather than making "Surgery" to it; which usually will make loss for both money and time. Even though you can make it right, it will cost around an amount equal to the cost of a new board; including the cost of (spare parts + service charge) More to say, most of the spare parts to it will be difficult to get from open electronic spare part market. This is true to most of the flat panel TV power supply boards; irrespective of its brand and screen size.

Red is an indication signal for power connectivity. Recent devices have two power functionalities. Using the remote control would turn off the display of images to power saver mode. A red power light imiting diode display is indication that requiring display of images is achievable by pressing on the display mode button once more. NOTES; Powering on the device may be achieved with the same function buttons as shutting down the entire Device to least communicate with the power supply circuity from outlet sources. The device is in power off mode ready for repower on with the remote control. Requesting the TV to shut down completely would require to press on the TV button firmly until power cuicuit are disbabled completely. Refer to the TV user guide to ascertain fucntionaility modes usual during operations. Goodluck
