Cotton buds are fine for cleaning the visible parts of the ear but should never ever be used in an attempt to clean the ear canal - not in babies or adults.

A cotton bud moistened with warm water and nothing else is unlikely to shred and if it does it won't matter because it doesn't go into the ear canal.

Some doctors don't believe in ear cleaning at all. I recall one doctor advising a patient when asked the best thing for cleaning ears - the doctor said "nothing smaller than your elbows"...

Ear cleaning is a specialist task and certainly should not be attempted with babies or small children unlikely to keep perfectly still.
In China ear cleaning is carried out by itinerant street traders and they use a selection of feathers; but those guys are experts.

SOURCE: left bud not working properly

Same thing happened to me today, so i took out the mesh to see what was going on.  Like solution 1, the mesh was the problem and i removed it with tweezers but i couldnt help bending the mesh a little.  Its not that its a problem of the mesh touching the cone but that the adhesive that attached the mesh was covering the whole underside of the mesh along with some wax.  I removed the silicone adhesive with the tweezers and washed out the wax with some peroxide.  The trickiest part is getting the mesh back in.  I put one side of the mesh in with the small lip facing down, slightly bent it so it made a bump on the top of the mesh and maintained its convex shape and then squeezed in the other side with trying to keep the lip in while doing so.  Took me a few tries but after you get it in push the edges in so they don,t come out again and file down the edges if there are any sharp pieces of the mesh protruding.  And your done.  Solved my problem, hope it works for you.

SOURCE: Sennheisser cx300 ear buds ..one channel has lost volume.

I have been having the same problem for the past week, I have just fixed it, reading your post gave me the idea to clean them and it actually worked

What i did was to "heat them up" with a hair dryer so that any wax from my ear that had gotten inside would "melt", then I cleaned them with alcohol and a q-tip and I made sure I let a bit of alcohol to get inside the ear bud, then I dryed it with the hair dryer again very carefully and tested to see the results and WHALA works just fine

SOURCE: Only One Ear Bud Works

It is likely that your right stereo channel has either been severed somehow or there is a severe short in one of the cables. What you can try to do to test this theory is first turn on your music. Then wiggle the cable at the very base of the right earbud. If nothing happens wiggle the cord right where it connects to the stereo jack. If still nothing happens run your fingers along the right earbud audio cable bending and twisting it. If at any point you hear music again then you likely have a short. If it is near the earbud then it is going to be difficult to fix since these earbudfs have a large gauard. If the short is at the stereo jack then the fix is simple. A standard 1/8" stereo jack can be purchased from any electronics or audio store. You can then fairly easily seperate teh old stereo jack and solder this new one in place. Search the internet for tutorials on how to do this if need be. Even if you do not get any kind of sound when wiggling it at the base of the jack this is the most likely culprit since this is where most of the stress on the headphones occur. Be wary though, if you do attempt a stereo jack repair you will void whatever kind of warranty your earbuds may have so check before you try. But, in teh end you may end up saving a 60-100 dollar set of earbuds for 5-8 dollars. Hope this helped.

BlueAnt Minipump 2 Bluetooth earbuds. Why don't they connect to my Lenovo tablet?

You told the tablet to find the ear buds, but you didn't tell the ear buds to shake hands by pressing the button on the ear buds.

Pairing Bluetooth Devices
Posters often ask "How do I pair my Bluetooth ???" Insert whatever device you have at the question marks.

Generally, you need to read the instructions for the camera, headset, speakers or whatever the Bluetooth device is.

Roughly speaking though.

Settings - Bluetooth - Search, on the Android, iPhone, Windows phone whatever.

With camera, speaker, headphones or whatever the Bluetooth device is, you have to press a button on that device to send out the signal. On my Bowers and Wilkins T6 Speakers, there is a button on the top with the Bluetooth symbol on it. This is the part people usually don't do and ask for advice, thinking it will do this automatically.

When the Android device recognises it, click Pair, and if it asks for a code, the Default is '0000', (four zeros, no quotes).

When i turn the volume up past a certain point the music stops playing and all i hear is a scratchy noise every couple seconds

This is usually due to the headphones or speakers not being able to play back the audio past that point, try a different set of headphones, the earbuds might be burnt out. some earbuds **** and cant play sounds past a certain dB the general dB levels tolerated without distortion are about 104-110 ish, but if you are listening anywhere near that your gonna hurt your ears. tests have shown that audio levels past about 90dB will seriously damage your ears after prolonged usage. Generally get nice in-ear ear buds with noise cancelation and never move your audio past 90% to clearly hear the music without damaging your ears.

My left earbuds on my JVC gummy earphones went out.

I have this problem all the time with my JVC earbuds. This may sound a little gross but it will work. I put the ear phone in my mouth and **** on the end of it pretty hard. What I have found is that sweat or even wax will plug the little hole and prevent the sound from coming out.

Can't always hear other person when using ear bud wint VX-8300

Make sure the ear bud isn't going bad, they are generally thin wired and poorly manufactured. Try a different set that is compatible.

If that doesn't fix it, take the battery out of the phone, get some rubbing alcohol and an old toothbrush and clean the headphone port.

And if that doesn't fix it, just get a bluetooth headset. Your pone is compatible and they can be found online for usually around $20. $40 for a descent set.

Hope this helps,
Simon.
