Question about Yamaha Audio Players & Recorders

I can't get the external sub woofer to work. I know it worke with other inputs, but can't get it out of the subwoofer outputs on the Yamaha XV661.

SOURCE: sr7200 LFE (sub woofer) output stopped working

Chances are if The Receiver only has sound in Stereo Direct Mode and all surround modes and Sub out are Inop the DSP (Digital Signal Processing) Card is most likey defective. These boards are not available from marantz (D&M Holdings) and must be Component level repaired which usually is not cheap. If Only the Sub out is not working check setup to be sure sub woofer is set for on. Also If On Screen setup menu does not appear on video monitor Unit may need to be Reset manually which entails discharging a Capaitor on main P.C.B Contact kstahl65@att.net for details

just connect your subwoofer mono RCA to your amp sub single out rca connector. you do not need to megre all those 4terminals into one. in fact internal circuit of those 4rca are merging inside to one since the sub uses only a single amp. 4inputs was meant for sources with multiple sub out

I have a JVC sub woofer SP-pwm 505 can I use this with any system my receiver has RCA jacks it looks like this uses a S cable...is there a cable that would convert "S" cable from sub woofer to an RCA output jack in receiver allenfreedman@yahoo.com

"Sub-woofer output not working" problem, and notify you when a new solution is offered.
Press the setup key on the front of the receiver
Select the subw setting
Move the multicontrol knob until the sub woofer is on
Turn off the receiver and turn back on- the subwoofer should be on

No I cant get my sub woffer to work woofer.There is power to the unit .I am trying to connest it to a sound bar which has a sub out.

If there is power to the woofer then a signal input must power the woofer to work. So feed a test signal or a audio siignal from a DVD and if there is no output then the AMPLIFIER section had faults.
Unless the sealed unit is opened it cannot be tested to confirm if the output , the input to the AMP or the power supply has failed.
Check if there is power to the output section to confirm.

your sub woofer has only one input to make it work. plug in your rca cables into the back of the sub woofer and the other end into the audio out or subwoofer out put on the back of your surround system.
also has 2 speaker inputs so you can expand your speaker setup. plug thos in and you can hook up 2 speakers to th output on the back of the sub.

How it can be connected to a stereo amp

hi,
if ur amplifier have a pre out, then u can connect that to ur L/R input of ur sub woofer.

if not the only way is, connect ur amplifiers speaker output to sub woofers speaker input and then connect ur speaker to sub woofer speaker output terminal. remember don't inter change positive and negative wires.

if ur amplifier have speaker A,B connection then it is very easy. connect the speaker A to ur left and right speaker. then connect speaker B to ur sub woofer's left and right speaker input. be sure to make that speaker A and B switch is in on position. the power on both and check it. ( use good quality speaker cable to connect the sub woofer)

your sub woofer is designed to work , both at low level and high level input.

It sounds like you have switched off the sub channel.
Keeping pressing C Level on the remote till you see SWFR.
Press D l / h to adjust the speaker output
level.

I have a Yamaha sub woofer model NX-SW150 that was part of a package home theater system. The original DVD receiver was a DVR-S150 which had a system control cable that plugged into the subwoofer as well...

You are trying to connect the powered sub output of the receiver to a standard (unpowered) subwoofer. Can't be done.

Your subwoofer probably has both high-power inputs and "normal"low inputs. The first are for receivers, which don't have link-level output for sub, so they are able to take already amplified signal as input.
You need to use link-level input of your sub and connect it to subwoofer-output of your receiver. The output is marked as OUTPUT - Subwoofer and is black-color RCA plug (don't confuse with subwoofer INPUT under MULTI CH INPUT).
Receiver has only mono output for subwoofer. If your sub has stereo input (white/red RCA plugs), connect just the left channel to the receiver, it will still work.
Don't connect anything to the speaker output on the sub, you don't need that.

Get a powered sub-woofer that has speaker level inputs, then run your front speaker wires into the sub-woofers speaker level input and then run a set of speaker wires from the sub-woofers speaker wire output to your front speakers. This is a common way to use a sub-woofer with a receiver that doesn't have a sub-woofer output.

Most powered sub-woofers have these connections, just check it out first before you buy one. They look like speaker jacks on the back of the receiver.

Subwoofer to receiver hookup

In general, there are two ways to hook up your sub-woofer. First using the high level outputs from your receiver ( speaker output from the front R & L speaker terminals ) run a set of wires from the outputs to the speaker inputs on the sub-woofer, you do this in concert with the speaker wires going to the front R & L speakers which you then attach to the R & L speaker outputs on the sub woofer amp. Note that the sub woofer doesn't power your front speakers, the connections from the sub amp are just a pass through connection where the signal needed by the sub is parasitically taken from the inputs.
Second is via a low level output from your receiver / amp to the low level input on your sub amp. This is normally done via a RCA type of patch cable and connected to the sub woofer RCA jack on the rear of the source receiver or amp, Next run the patch cord to the sub amp an into the RCA jack input. IF you have a right and left input, use the Right input.
