Look to see if the sensor down at ankle height is blinking. If it won’t move at all, it usually means there’s something obstructing the electric eye. If there’s nothing in the way, check to make sure that you have not bumped one of them and got them out of line.

Turn ( unplug it from the wall) if hard wired remove the fuse from switch board.
Then turn back on. Pull the cord once or flick the switch.
It may just open or close as soon as you turn the power back on so watch out!.
If nothing.. switch it again and it should be good.

SOURCE: Door will only close when held down

That normally happens when the sensors aren't aligned. Both sensors have led lights on them the yellow/orange one will stay on all the time the green one will go out if it cant see the other sensor. Possibly theres a wire that's broken or the other sensor is really out of alignment. Check every inch of wiring from the sensor to the opener, remove wire nuts if present and check the connections. The wires that are used are small, solid and can break easily. Also see if there's a staple that's too tight, move the wire abit where it's stapled and look for damage.

SOURCE: garage door squeak when closing

I had a similar problem and tried simlar fixes. Spraying the chain, the rollers, the track with silicon based lubricant did not good for my problem. My wife then listened carefully from where the squeak was coming. It was coming from the hinged in the actual door, the hinge like parts that allow the door to roll up. After we sprayed all of them, the sound just went back to the normal electrical / mechanical sound of the door opening and closing. I am sure our neighbors are happy too after 6 months of (very) early openings. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: My garage door won't close unless I hold the main button down

your garage door has saftey sensors at the door
these are photo eyes
in the owners manuel that came with the opener
that has pictures in it which would help
the photo eyes need to be clear of debri and aimed at each other with no obstruction
there are leds on each sensor and when aimes properly they should be light if i remember correctly
if you can not get them to light then you may have to replace the sensors

SOURCE: Access Master 1/3 HP garage door does not close, blinks

Most likely your door sensors are out of alignment. Make sure they are pointed directly at one another.

I have liftmaster garage door opener P/N 41A-5483-4. It worked normally. but all of sudden, when door closing, it reverses automatically at half way down, and garage door light bulb starts blicking 6...

Use the pull cord and disconnect the opener from the door. Operate the opener and let the carrier slide back away from the door. Is the carrier moving smoothly when disconnected? Next, lift the door by hand from the bottom to the top. Is it moving smoothly? If not, lubricate the axles of all the rollers on both sides of the door. Check the cable pulleys at the top sides of the door channel, lubricate them as well. Are all cables in all the pulleys, there are 4. After checking those things, there is a "up force" and "down force" adjustment on the opener, try increasing the "up force" by turning the adjustment in the direction of MORE force.

Genie garage door comes down and goes back up.

You need a general inspection of all related parts. Make sure none of the track mounting bolts have loosened leaving a misalignment of track segments. CAREFULLY with power off use fingers. turn EACH roller. Something as simple as a bad roller bearing can cause this, even a flat spot on a worn roller. Rollers can be bought at a home supply store. These are 2 most causes.
