What kind of saw is it...how old is it??

Hi Chris. I had similar problem on a different saw. A few things to look at. The chain tightness should be fine because you made a few cuts. Your fuel can be contaminated (my problem). Empty out the fuel and clean out the tank and filter if installed. Use fresh gas (yes, in your gas can...make sure it is clean as well). Your carb could be contaminated if your fuel was contaminated. How is your chain oil? Plenty available? Also, check your air filter...could be obstructing your air flow. How old is the spark plug? Remember, they don't last long like the ones in your vehicle. I always replace mine annually...they just don't last. That is about the best I can do. If you still have problems after all of this, I would suggest a carb service...not that expensive and it would really clean out the ports. I hope this helps you Chris!
Thanks Don, think it would be a lot easier and quicker if I stuck it in for a service, even though I have not long bought it, if too pricey, then I will have to do a DIY, thx again, very helpful

SOURCE: The engine cuts out after it heats up
This seems to be a common issue as of late, i'd tighten up your idle adjustment so you can run at full throttle with no issue. The tiller's oil should be at the lower lip of the dip stick's access threading while the unit is laying face down (gas tank down). Clean up your carb as well and change your plug/filter, if this doesn't work than you're probably looking at some simple carb adjustments, but the fact it dies after 10 minutes of use makes me think it's running either dirty or too rich.

your engine is only running on the fuel you are pumping in, the carb. is not lifting the fuel on its own, maybe because of water in the bowl or dirty jets. You must take the bowl of and clean it out and depending on the type of carb. it might need a new diaphragm. Stephen.
