You need to check the file format on music, windows media play does not support their format ((*.ra, *.rm). You can change the format to mp3 or .wav using other software.

SOURCE: not playing music

No Music Files Problem solved
Plug the MP3 player to PC
In Windows XP open Windows Explorer and navigate to one of the music files
Try to play the file in Windows
If it fails, unplug player and once the player switches off carry out a reset
Reconnect player to PC and repeat the process described above
You may need to repeat this several times until the music file plays in Windows.
After this format the player using Windows XP
Select the removable hard drive, right click and select format
Choose Fat32, enter a volume label (for example GMP33005) and select quick format
If formatting fails try several times
Once format is succesfull reload your music files using the software that came with the player
Be careful not to exceed 2.5 or 2.6 GB (leave some free space as this might be needed for the player to work)
The player should now play the music files correctly

Hi, you can try to upgrade the player's firmware, you can download it from the RCA Website (moz-screenshot.jpgmoz-screenshot-1.jpghttp://support.rcaaudiovideo.com/downloads.aspx?product=187), the firmware it's the second app listed.
If your computer doesn't recognize the player, you'll have to turn it off and keep "PLAY" pressed for 10 seconds while connecting it to the USB port, then update the firmware.

MP3 players can only play music files in mp3 file format. You can download mp3 music files from the Internet toyour computer and then copy them to your MP3 player. For your CD collection, you need to convert your CDs tomp3 music files onto your computer or download them from the Internet and thencopy them to your MP3 player after you have connected the USB cable tothe MP3 player and the computer.

Unable to transfer to mp3 player

Hi there,
Based on Philips SA6045 User's Guide, youou can transfer your media content in the following ways:

  • Using Windows Media Player 10 – Note: You cannot transfer all video files using this method. It is recommended to use Media Converter for Philips to transfer video files.
  • Using Windows Media Player 11 - Note: You cannot transfer all video files using this method. It is recommended to use Media Converter for Philips to transfer video files.
  • Using Windows Explorer - Note: While all files will transfer, they may not play back if the player does not support the format.

It is recommended that you use Media Converter for Philips to transfer your video content, and Windows Media Player (10 or 11) to transfer your music and pictures to the device. Use Windows Media Player (10 or 11) to transfer all video that you purchased online to the device.

Phillips gp gear will not play music downloaded.

The songs that you transferred have a DRM license on them that does not have transfer rights (i.e.: the songs you downloaded can be played on a computer, but cannot be transferred to an mp3 player). The GoGear is giving you this message in hopes that you will Sync it with Windows Media Player and acquire the said transfer rights.

If you download songs that are in true mp3 format, you will not have this problem. Also, if you choose a music service that allows mp3 transfer at your subscription levwel, and continue to pay for that subscription every month, it will also clear your problem.

You must use Windows Media Player, because the Musicmatch service that it was originally tied to was discontinued in October 2007. Manuals and software can be found at www.usasupport.philips.com
